haha, actually, my first choice for a ballad was "nobody needs to know" from TL5Y, but in general, you're advised not to sing jason robert brown songs at auditions (and this is an audition preperatory class) because pianists are generally sightreading and they're just not sightreadable songs. granted, this piano part even i can play, so it's not that big of an issue, and i'm still considering it, haha :)
:D thanks! i hope all is going well with you! (i'm going to have to go and read some entries i missed from your journal, i'd imagine!! haha) talk to you soon! :)
Hey Zach!!! I've missed you, and the funny thing is; I still have never met you. lmao.
Well you're always an awesome online buddy to chat with.
School seems to be going great. Woodwinds=love; however, nothing beats the piano. ;-) i kid.
I'm taking musical theatre too!!! We were recently discussing different song classifications. Like "I am" and "I want" songs and Ballads and stuff... Really cool. I just wished I had an interesting teacher. He really makes the class dull. For my first song I did "Corner On The Sky" (Pippin).
And on your recording bit of your update. I hate recordings. I can't stand them. It makes me depressed. But hey, it's the only way we grow. I mean once in awhile I have really good performances. Like two weeks ago I played the 4th Ballade by Chopin and it went pretty well. I think that was my best performance yet. Maybe I'll use it for college auditions.
Well hey sry, I don't want to make my comment longer then your entry. ttys. bye. :-)
It goes without saying that I miss you and your updating. You've been pretty good about telling me things regardless :) but it's good to see the blog perspective. That practicing thing sounds like a good goal hahaha It's funny that you say that you couldn't believe it was you playing the Tchaik on the recording, the exact same thing happened to me. My tongue does NOT work at 180 but, what else is new.
