And so it begins...

GOODBYE MEAT. I MISS YOU ALREADY. SEE YOU IN SEVEN WEEKS.

I'm so bad at being intermittently vegetarian. But this time. I WILL TRIUMPH, with no cheating or anything.

So this is my commitment. In writing. So as to shame any possible rule breaking into submission.

I'm trying to do a proper Lenten fast. Which means no meat. And sad times for me, because I love meat like a son.

Technically, I've already cheated, but those were delicious leftovers, dammit! I can't let that shit go to waste!

THAT'S RIGHT, NEVERMIND. I suck too much at not eating all of the meat always to handle your tempting! :P

Now I wonder, how long until I go insane and eat a million notdogs and facon, try (and fail) to pretend they're real meat, and cry?

Thanks! I'll need all the luck I can hoard. My vegetarian friend has a bet going that I won't last, and I'm determined to prove her wrong. Congrats on your self-control/commitment! You've got my respect :)

I guess for me, I'm so used to having meat almost everyday, and in so many different foods, that it's just very strange and overwhelming for me to think about never having it again. Then again, growing up I went years as a vegetarian, just because our family couldn't afford the luxury of meat, and it's not like I was all that hard done by, or even thought much of it :P

Yeah, the fear of shame should be a nice incentive!

Heh. Good luck!

As a vegetarian (ten years now, at least) I know it can be tough. ;) Enjoy and I hope this is an opportunity to experience varieties of food you'd otherwise never consider! Mmmm, curry. <3

Thanks! I'm actually starting to get super excited about raiding all of my mother's vegetarian cookbooks. (And maybe trying to make myself tofu that I actually like, but I'm not getting my hopes up about that...)

Today, I made puttanesca for my pasta instead of bolognese. And I am irrationally proud of this fact :D (Olives, how are you so good on pasta, wow.)

You know, if it's just for Lent, you're allowed to break your fast on Sundays?

True fact! Lent is supposed to be 40 days and from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday it's 46 days. So, Sundays are allowed! Read it up. :)

Heh, maybe for some churches, but not for mine :P Great Lent started on this last Sunday and ends on the 15th, without breaksies. If only!
