Excuse me, but which of Dr Benjamin Spock's books do you have?

[ She sighs in relief, ] Good, you're aware. I'm Ilsa Higa, new to town. I wondered if anyone had done a full study of what is here, to see what the town wants us to know? Especially if there's more than one person doing the review, and comparing their impressions?

That's difficult, in all honesty. We'd have to have someone in every age group and gender looking over the titles of the book. They're different depending, which makes working here a right pain most days.

I started reviewing the kid's schoolbooks, and that was a surprise. There's stuff I remember differently, but part of it was having editions that were written almost fifty years later, when I was in school.

[ Ilsa pulls a small notebook form her purse, and flips it open to the list of titles. ]

I've been working my way through the women's section. I've caught a few deletions and re-wordings in some of the cookbooks I'm familiar with, but mostly it looks like someone is guiding towards the lowest common denominator, and fairly bland.
