Not to beat a dead horse, but that port wasn't all that bad. And I know someone somewhere'd probably find something to argue about when I say this, but I think most of us that had exposure to 'em? Had a period of liking Disney movies and fairytales and stuff like that. And we all outgrow 'em, some faster then others, but that doesn't mean you're ( Read more... )

Well, if you really don't want to, you don't have to come, but you're still invited.

I'm the Chief Engineer on board the first Warp Five capable starship, and through that have had a lotta exposure to advanced and generally alien technology, so I'd say it's pretty high. Why?

I don't know what Disney is, but there were many stories I enjoyed when I was young, though one always seems to be...applicable more often than not.

Once there was a dwarf who found a sleeping dragon in its cave and decided to slay it. He hacked at it and hacked at it with his axe, but he couldn't break through the dragon's scales. The dragon didn't even wake up. Then, the dragon rolled over, crushing the dwarf and the axe, and was never even aware of the attempt to slay it.

How often do people try for things with all their might, only to be crushed without the object of their attention even knowing they exist?

Disney is a production company that makes movies aimed at kids, but they're good enough stories that adults like 'em too.

Good lesson to teach to kids. I mean, I guess it never hurts to try, but you gotta know when to give up before it... squishes you.

A movie...that is some Earth term for play, I gather? I heard others refer to them.

At the very least, it's good to have the warning that you can so easily be crushed.
