"The Rat Patrol" Userpics

I find it kind of funny that I'm making icons for a show I have yet to see, but I guess that goes to show how much faith I have that these old WWII programs are going to be good. So here are a few icons from hogan_macgyver which I Photoshopped up a little. The dog tags on Tully are my Grandpa's. ^^

Those turned out so good! I love the "Smile" one. (Moffitt smiling always did get me :)
I think that's so cool that you used your grandpa's tags.

I hope you'll get to see the show.

Ah, thank you! He does have a lovely smile. I was tempted to make more of him, but I didn't want to upset the balance of characters. ;) I loved scanning my grandpa's tags and making different shapes with it.

Thanks for helping me get interested in this show!

The Rat Patrol. That movie sounds familiar. Is Richard Dawson in it? Or someone from HH?

A "Rat Patrol" movie?? I've never heard of that! I'll have to do some research. You might know something I don't know!

There was a "Movie" but technically it was only a three part episode that they put together and showed in the theaters. The episodes are part of the series.

Richard Dawson isn't in it (or any of the main cast of HH), but you will recognize some of the actors who played the germans on HH. There was one episode that Howard Cain guest stared in.

Fascinating. Thanks for the clarification. I love TV episodes that go longer than the allotted time (like "Tiger Hunt in Paris"). Usually means the plot is good. LOL, Hotchstetter as an Ally? That sounds so neat!

On a side note, I actually discovered the first season of Rat Patrol is somewhere in my branch's library tree, so I'll be able to get it eventually. And they have "Combat" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep" so I'll have a WWII TV show for N Africa, Europe, Pacific, and, of course, a POW camp. :)

I guess I didn't get all the characters. *oops* I was working from hogan_macgyver's icons, and I guess one of his just didn't feel like it could use some Photoshopping. Maybe I'll do another batch. :)

By the way, I adore your icon!

Not off topic at all! I brake for WWII, so to speak, so please don't be afraid of giving me recommendations! Both books sound absolutely fascinating, especially Dear Enemy. I've only read one WWII fiction, Bodie Thoene's Vienna Prelude and I absolutely loved it. That one was a Christian piece, too, but wasn't overt. Obvious "preaching" in a novel is very much out of vogue today, so these books do a good job of presenting their themes with taste. But, yeah, I'll definitely add those books you mentioned in my to-read list! I'm on goodreads.com and I love adding books to the to-read shelf. There's so many great titles out there! Again, thanks for the suggestions. :D

Wow, that's great! I haven't got to the Zion Chronicles as yet, though I own book 1. I just had to get to the WWII one (with a violinist! I want to play that one day...).

That's great you read Christian fiction. I'd agree that most modern fiction is smutty. I mean, look at the covers! You'd think it was advertizing a raunchy soap opera. But you read antique books? Neat! My oldest book is from the late 1800s. It's amazing to imagine what those book's must've seen.

It's good to put in those disclaimers. I'm Christian myself, but I really respect people from your background. My sister loves exploring different faiths, so I'm familiar with different viewpoints. It's all very enlightening.

And I'm sure I will enjoy them!
