I knew this wasn't normal, usually he'd get in touch with me as soon as he knew I was looking for him. I sent him an email after I posted my entry. I remembered after looking at the email address that he had a ( Read more... )

I'm so so sorry Kuree
I read your other post and said a little prayer that you would be able to reach your friend.

He died of intestinal cancer. He was 53. I had no idea he was that old, he looked like he was in his late 30's or early 40's. He'd never tell me his age.

I was able to get a hold of the girl who sold next to him in SoHo. She gave me the closure I needed and was with him the whole time until he passed. He died in just three days. Which the doctors said was a blessing in itself, otherwise he would have been transfered to a hospice. Whatever that is... but it doesn't sound so cool.

I'm sending money tomorrow to the attorney that handled his trust. Jill is also sending me his writings and I have to work on the final issue of The Metropolitan MUSE without him. Jill never found his shoe sketches he drew up for me.

53 is way too young to die, esp for someone so young at heart
my brother in law Dave died at 48, stomache cancer, he also went super fast, 3 weeks. A hospice is a good thing actually, it's a place you go to die but with dignity and compassion, much better then a hospital.
When my mom was dying we had a hospice nurse (an angel of mercy) and she was so wonderful, she did all the medical stuff we couldn't do but was more like a friend then a nurse, no one pretends that she's not dying.
maybe the shoe sketches will show up, you never know
