here's the situation...i've got a job interview next week for another position here at georgia tech. while i haven't always been on the best of terms with my boss, ultimately i hate to leave him in a lurch, which is what would probably happen if i end up getting this gig. i have only just begun looking for another job and i'm wondering if i should

No matter how much you want to do the right thing, if there's a possibility that you'll be fired and lose that job after letting them know you're actively looking, you can't tell him until you have something else lined up as a sure thing. It sucks to do to them, but this is one instance in life where selfishness is required. It's YOUR life that's mostly affected.

We've got one person at work who's been actively looking for the alst couple months now and in that time she started bitching about how people are jockeying to take her job.

If you are serious about.. it would be nice to let them know so they can put together a game plan for when it happens.

But you place sounds like my place as far as crap goes so my evilness is wanting to surface too.

dont listen to thenab, blabbing about how you're looking for another job will only get you into trouble!!! they may find someone earlier than you're ready to leave, and then dismiss you on the grounds that you were planning to leave ANYWAY. besides, they sound like a bunch of asshats with no loyalty to them anyway-- so WHY should you show any loyalty to them?! i wouldnt tell them SHIT!!!! fallenfromgrace has the right idea, dont say A WORD until you have something else lined up.

for the record, thenab was only being nice about it. she was just giving me the other perspective (which is good to at least contemplate). i'm sure she isn't recommending i just hang myself! normally she'd be saying what you're saying, which is to NOT SAY SHIT!

oh, and i'm not gonna say anything. i've decided it's their fault for not letting me train somebody on the databases i created, so poo on them.
