[Augh... That was horrible. Between being changed into an animal, and a baby one at that, being dragged around by two puppets, picked up by giant robots, cradled and pet and cooed over... He's not sure what is worse here

[ She watches Mordecai make words from the corner of her vision, hands working to sew his vest together. ]
I've already grown attached to this kitten, Mr. Johnson. If anything were to happen to him, or if I couldn't go ahead to get these motherly urges out of my system, I don't think I'll be able to continue on with my work. Please just allow me this one little thing? I hope it's not too much to ask. If you're nice to him, I'm sure he'll be nice to you.
[ Her hand moves from under the vest she was working on to tap on the paper, knowing Cave couldn't see from his position. ]
[Cave smiles leeringly, continuing to ignore the furball.]
You know Caroline, there's other ways to get rid of motherly urges. Downright enjoyable methods. Ancient eastern secrets. I can get my hands on some diagrams if you need more information on the subject.
[ An involuntary reaction to his suggestion makes Caroline clutch her needle as her hand tightens, but she hardly even lets the pain show on her face. She manages a small uneasy laugh and removes the needle off to the side so he might not notice. ]
A-and what would the boys back home say about that? It. It wouldn't be good for productivity. You want to beat out Black Mesa this year, don't you?
[ A line she gave pretty much every time something of this *sort* came up, and it had worked every time before. Caroline presses her slightly bleeding hand to a piece of scrap clothing she had yet to cut, trusting the bleeding would stop in a moment or two. ]
[Oh thank Jesus. He does not want to be in the middle of this. He's still slightly fluffed, but he's not about to head off when he's being fitted for clothes.
He needs clothes, after all.
Still, looking quite miffed, he sniffs in disdain, getting up and moving away to the edge of the bed.
[ Caroline lets out a small sigh of relief, but her eyes linger on the floor. How much longer would a line like that work? Other men in his position would have done something about it a long time ago, yet Cave... With a deep breath she looks over to him. ]
When we finally manage to beat them, then maybe...Mr. Johnson.
[ Which is something they couldn't do while they were here, so until she got home she wouldn't have to worry about it. ]
Of course! Hell of a celebration we'll have together. I'm thinking Hawaii. So when's the cab getting here? We [by which he means, 'everyone else at the lab'.] have a lot of work to do. You can bring the drain clog along with you I guess. It might make a good test subject in a pinch.
Sir, we are in the labs. I explained this to you when you first arrived. The reality of the facility has changed into this and the employees no longer remember working for us and have changed physically. I'm researching a way to return us all normal again.
What a damned inconvenience. Oh well, I suppose obstacles like this are inevitable in our field of work. So what are we [Read: you] going to do to fix this?

Right, right, productivity. Of course, how could I forget? You tease you.
[He waves his hand in the air to no one in particular, ending this avenue of discussion.]
