On Thursday evening, Caroline had returned to the apartment with an artifact given to her by Cabrakan. In exchange for groundbridge technology, repulsion gel and adhesion gel, the Reaper had given her this with the promise that contact with it would bestow new knowledge delivered directly to her mind. She had weighed the dangers and risks, but the lure of new information was too much to pass up. So, alone in her room, Caroline had done as Cabrakan had instructed and let the tombs of information rush through her.
Friday morning would typically begin with breakfast for Cave. An omelet with french toast and orange juice and milk. When he woke, there was just an empty kitchen. Caroline's door was locked tight and if called on, she gave no response. Lunch and dinner were missed just the same.
Her light was on, the light still shining under the door. Sounds of papers shuffling and scribbling as well as muffled murmurs could be heard should someone stand close enough to her unmoved door.
