Summary: Heechul receives a letter while still at the army training center
Author's Note: Uhh...there's no real resolution to this, just to let you know
Heechul looks down at the letter stuck inside the pile of mail that had just been dropped on his bunk. He recognizes the awkward Hangul lettering and the Chinese postal stamps, and he sits there for a moment, his throat clogging and his chest constricting painfully.
He pushes it aside, and looks quickly through the rest of the pile of mail. There is a box of chocolates from Hongki, and something from his mother and sister, several fan letters and an envelope from Donghae, probably containing pictures of all of them for Heechul.
He opens all of them but the one from China. He leaves it sitting on the bunk, alone.
He leaves, goes to lunch, goes to more training in the rain and mud. When he comes back he ignores the letter again, even though it’s seemingly grown larger as the day drags by.
When the day is over, he sits back down on his uncomfortable bunk and stares at it, picks it up, tosses it back on the cot, picks it back up again, gets furious with himself and him. He crumples it in his fingers and swallows back the pain this stupid thing is bringing back.
He wants to throw it away, but he can’t. He wants to rip it in half, scream at it, punch it, call it a bastard, but he can’t. He wants to cry and ask it why..
Instead he tucks it inside his pillow and lays down again, wondering why he can’t let it go.
