Well, this article royally pissed me off. Not only is it poorly written, it's full of generalizations and uncited "facts." What an embarrassing excuse for a newspaper article. Umm.. Dear? I'm not really sure why you are pissed off about it? It was making the same types of jokes people from the south make constantly. This is the same shit all 4 people in Blue Collar Comedy Tour spout out with one exception, they don't tend to bash bush.

*shrug* I guess I just don't see why you are so angry over something that was meant to be funny. There are reasons it was in the opinion section ;) Afterall, almost all humor is based on generalizations.

Not to mention this is the same stuff I make fun of people from Texas for everyday. I call everyone in West Texas stupid and constantly say I can't wait to leave.. And you never snapped at me :)

Anyways. Not looking to start a fight. Just wanted clarification on why this pissed you off while other things didnt?

Well, honey, for one thing, I don't watch the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Second, I don't remember ever hearing you say that people from West Texas are stupid and if you did, I sure as hell corrected you. I probably didn't snap at you because, Eric, you're my friend and, more importantly, because you, yourself, are from West Texas. It's similar, to why African Americans tend to be allowed to call each other the n-word while no one else should. This article ticked me off for the same reason another article in the same newspaper that talked about how women are inappropriately suited to be president also ticked me off. Also, there's a difference between good-natured humor (not to mention well-written humor) and just plain bashing. There is nothing funny about anyone being called stupid or ignorant. The writer was not intending to laugh with West Texans, he was intending to laugh with everyone but West Texans. In fact, one of the only comments that didn't offend me was the one he made about Bush. I understand that you might not have ( ... )
