♥ One of the things that struck me in the new movie was that Pike did, indeed, seem like an older, calmer Kirk-type of Captain, perfect mentor material. I really like this little glimpse of Kirk's opinion of Pike at movie's end.

It's just so sweet, and so very much what I want to be canon, even if it's not what the moviemakers had in mind, because omgyes.
