on a high horse

Just watched the first episode of Rev on the iPlayer. Let me share some thoughts.

So.... I'm assuming it was supposed to be a comedy? I'm not entirely sure. I don't think it really matters, since it fails so catastrophically on every imaginable level that any minor genre issues seem rather insignificant.

I'm not really sure what they were going for. There were moments that were probably jokes, moments that were maybe meant to be touching and an end gag you could see coming from SPACE, but nothing that made me think that this was ever a script that was fit to support a coffee mug, let alone get produced.

Seriously, BBC, sometimes I want to shake you and shake you until the good programming comes out. And I know Doctor Who is currently amazing, but you let RTD get away with some wacky shit and you put out Miranda and Paradox, for goodness sake, and at least one of those borders on the unforgiveable.

Also, if this is how people view organised religion, I really can't blame anybody for being an atheist :P

In short, it's not even so-bad-it's-good. It's just bad. And vaguely irritating.

Also, this game is absurdly simple and absurdly addictive. There are some fairly idiosyncratic leaps of logic, but I made a ZOMBIE and a VAMPIRE and some BREAD. Bow before your Doodle God.
