I'm worried right now. I'm sure everyone of you heard of it already - there has been an 8.9 earthquake in Japan, causing not only one of the worst natural disasters in Japan in the last 140 years, but also causing a tsunami that has hit Japan, Hawaii and apparently just hit California. I'm praying for the ones in Japan though. I have a few friends there I haven't heard from yet. :(

i've been busy all day and only learned of it by chance a few hours ago - while going through maths homework with my friend and litsening to the radio at the same time, which usually neither of us does.
i've just written to mao, aya and chiho. and am praying to each and any deity out there that the power plant won't collapse.

The weather is so beautiful here today. The waves were low on the beach. It's ideal. I want to go out and enjoy the day, but it's impossible when just on the other side of the ocean, people's lives are being torn up.
Every time a disaster like this strikes, I don't know what to do. The world has become so globalized so it's impossible not to care. And it very easily could have been me or my friends or my family. LA is waiting for its Big Earthquake; we are always "due" for one of the same magnitude that hit Japan. If I live here long enough, it almost certainly will be me.

I read that same story just a while ago. It really reminds you that behind those big numbers thrown around on the news and the far-away-pictures of it all there are individual lives and individual stories affected. It's made me cry, too.
I was worried for you because I just kept hearing LA would be hit but didn't know how badly. I'm glad that nothing majorly bad happened.
I want to do something to help Japan, even though I can't do much. Everything kind of feels surreal today with that going on... it feels so far away and yet so close at the same time.
*clings* I don't want it to be you.

Heard the death toll has gone over 1000 now - it's really awful :(
Hopefully there will be plenty of support for Japan and the other places that have been affected!! My dad's been stuck at work for like 24 hours already, sending out planes for aid and stuff. :)
