For my Allie.

Jan 17, 2005 21:25

At long last, with much delaying, here is the ficlet I promised you, Allie! It does indeed have the three words you gave me. :D It is unfinished, as my fingers were starting to cramp around the pen. However, tell me if you would like more.

Lisa flicked on the switch of the radio and one of her favourite songs was playing. She smiled, starting to move to the music. Within too long, she was dancing passionately and without a care in the world.

Theo tiredly turned the doorknob and the door opened. Work was harder than he expected, as he had been forced to run after a client. He did not normally like to run, as that produced the most unsightly sweat. He headed straight to the bedroom without looking for Lisa. He knew she would be in the living room.

Theo pulled off his jacket and his shirt, finally realizing that music was playing. He walked to the living room and saw Lisa dancing like he had never seen before. Not that he saw her dancing so often, as he wasn’t that enthusiastic about it and she usually went with her friends to clubs to do that. However, he never knew how much of a turn on it could be. After a whole day of being surrounded by men and testosterone, this was a refreshing breath of air.

Lisa twirled around and saw her shirtless boyfriend staring at her with such intensity her stomach (and other nether regions) tingled. With a small smile, she danced to and then right besides him.

Theo hated to show weakness, but the urge to tap his foot to the music was overwhelming. Instead, he placed his hands on her waist and pulled her gently closer to him. Lisa immediately slowed and sexed up her dancing.

Theo failed to suppress a smirk. The fast song ended and a slower song started to play. If only he had this kind of welcome every day.

Lisa ran a finger down his chest and found it damp. “Why are you sweaty?” she asked. Not that she really minded.

“You wouldn’t believe how stuffy the office was,” he lied smoothly. It sounded like a plausible enough explanation.

“Aww, my poor, hot Theo,” she murmured. “I’d suggest you wear fewer pieces of clothing, but I don’t want female co-workers staring.”

“Unless the men have very good disguises or gay impulses, I think I’m safe,” Theo said.

She giggled and kissed his cheek. “Perhaps I should let you take a shower. You’re a bit smelly.”

Theo made a face at her remark. “Precisely. However, it’s lonely in the shower. I think I need some company.” With that, he led Lisa to the bathroom.

Half an hour later, Theo and Lisa dressed and went to the kitchen to make themselves cups of tea. Lisa wanted something with a strong flavour, so she dropped a sprig of mint in her cup.

Theo contented himself with a cup of black tea and settled on the sofa to read the newspaper.

Lisa snuggled up besides him, tucking her legs beneath her and continuing to read the novel she had started a few days ago.

He slyly placed his hand on the part of her left thigh that was not covered by her skirt and gently rubbed it with his thumb. They sat reading for five minutes without saying a word when there was a knock at the door.

Theo inwardly groaned. That was probably one of Lisa’s bubbly and energetic friends. He hoped it wasn’t Gwen, the one with the horsy laugh or Patricia, who had an obsession with putting goat cheese on all of her suppers.

Lisa put her cup on the coffee table in front of her and walked to the front door. Her friend Tiffany stood there with an excited grin on her face.

“Hello Lisa! You’ll never guess what happened to me!” Tiffany gushed.

Theo buried his nose in the paper. It was that Tiffany, who took part in many unorthodox practices and had body piercing one very pierceable part of her body. It was she who had persuaded Lisa to piece her belly button. (Actually, Theo liked that on Lisa very much but her worried that Tiffany would convince her to get an unsightly tattoo. One tattoo between them would do just fine, thanks.)

“What happened?” asked Lisa as she closed the door. Tiffany walked across the room to sit on an armchair. She was fully painted and smelled like a flower shop exploded. Theo nearly gagged.

“All right, so I was at this club, you know, Flames, listening to this new band Mocks and chatting up this dishy man, who, as I found out a bit later, is the manager of Alien Probe!”

“Ohmygosh!” Lisa shrieked. Alien Probe was her new favourite heavy metal band. Their music was very catchy, not to mention Mordred Lorimer was incredibly good looking in a morbid sort of way.

“So, I oh so casually ask him where the Probe’s playing next and he tells me that in two weeks, they’ll be at the Waterwheel!”

“OH, WE SO HAVE TO BE THERE!” exclaimed Lisa excitedly.

“Wait a minute, Lis, that’s not the best part. So, the manager, whose name is Gareth and is so nice, is taking a sip of his drink. We’ve been talking for a while and we have so many things in common, believe it or not. I make him laugh a lot and he makes me laugh too.”

“Tiffany, that’s wonderful, but perhaps you could get to the point?” Lisa was not very patient at the moment.

Tiffany smiled sheepishly. “Sorry. Anyway, I ask him out for a drink and he says that he doesn’t have much time - in fact, he was only in Fames to see if Alien Probe could play there and he had to leave soon - so he invites me to join him at the Waterwheel and I can meet the band after they finish!”

“Tiff, that’s marvellous!” Lisa gushed but felt a pang of jealousy. She almost wished that Theo was related to Mordred or any of Alien Probe, for that matter.

Theo had tuned out as soon as Tiffany started on her explanation, but he heard Lisa’s excited reply. He couldn’t help but notice that her smile seemed a bit strained. His dislike for Tiffany increased tenfold.

Tiffany leaned forward with a glint in her eye. “Darling, that’s not all I did. I explained that I had an adorable friend and her boyfriend who were crazy about the band and suggested that we double date. Gareth, being absolutely perfect, agreed. SO you and Theo can meet Alien Probe too!”

Lisa gasped and launched herself at Tiffany to give her a tight hug. “Tiff, you are the most amazing friend ever and I really hope it works out with Gareth because he sounds wonderful for you!” she said in one breath. There was also the hope that she would be invited to more of the Probe’s shows if they double dated more often.

Theo, of course, didn’t have as much enthusiasm but he rather enjoyed heavy metal music, so the evening wouldn’t be a complete loss. He turned the page of his paper and let the girls squeal for a bit.

Lisa finished hugging Tiffany and suddenly had a serious thought. “We need appropriate clothing!”

Tiffany nodded. “I have nothing to wear, you’re right! He might be my soulmate! I have to plan the perfect outfit!”

Theo rolled his eyes behind the paper.

“This weekend, we’ll buy something in town,” Lisa reassured Tiffany.

The next two weeks passed by quickly for Theo, who was preoccupied with work, and slowly for Lisa. Although she had a wonderful job as an assistant, she was looking forward to this concert more than anything. On the afternoon of the day she would see Alien Probe, she arrived home from work as soon as she could and immediately had a shower. That done, she dressed in a T-shirt and underwear to shave her legs and armpits. She painted her finger and toenails dark puple (she didn’t have black) and applied ehyeliner, mascara, and bright red lipstick. It was now time to get dressed. Tiffany had chosen the rather revealing clothes as Lisa normally was too shy to wear such things. For example, the dark red halter top revealed nearly all of her back and left her arms bare. It was tight and clung to her every curve. Lisa had neve rworn a black leather miniskirt or black mid-calf high heeled boots before, but there was a first time for everything. Now she only had twenty minutes to wait and then she and Theo would go. Theo! Lisa realized she had to see if he was ready.

“Theo!” she called. “Are you ready to go?”

Theo heard her voice and walked out of the bedroom, dressed as usual all in black.
“Are we going?” he asked, a bit surprised at the makeup on her face.

“Yes,” Lisa grinned and they left the flat together.

I sorta based Alien Probe on HIM and Mordred Lorimer on Ville Valo, in honour of you, Allieness. <3

There. I feel more creative now. And OMG twenty minutes until I call Mandy! Ever since 7 pm, I have been counting down. I did nothing today, other than buy chocolate and a magazine, take a shower, and write. So nice! XD

The thought of tomorrow doesn't seem so bad, now. Let's see how it goes.
