Just got back from seeing
X-Men: First Class.
I don't really have my thinking cap on right now, so this'll mainly be squee. But I do want to say:
There are 4 women total in the movie, all of whom we see in their underwear or naked.
Number of men we see naked or in their underwear? 0. Le sigh.
But Charles and Erik are lovely. I loved learning their whole back story. They meet with Charles diving off a boat to hug Erik underwater and get up close and personal with his brain! Their entire relationship starts with a mindmeld. \o/ I love how much Charles is in Erik's head throughout the movie. Charles anticipating Erik would leave -- but Erik stays because Charles offers him friendship (and yes, an ally, but... friends! meep!). And Erik so easily convinces Charles that they must search for mutants themselves, without government agents; I love how quickly their bond forms. "I'm with Erik." "I need you by my side, Charles." The scene on the veranda! Gah. Even at the end, when Erik puts on the helmet, he still trusts Charles to hold Shaw while he kills him. And then,Erik holding Charles in the sand -- their faces, I love their faces. OTPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
There's also some nice vibes between others -- laser boy and Darwin are very handsy with each other, and all they need is a quick look between each other to form their plan to stop the bad mutants. And the way Darwin reaches out to laser boy before he dies. Learning Mystique's story of growing up with Charles, that he tells her to go with Erik in the end.
I also love how much Charles flirts with any mutant, regardless of gender. His glee on meeting Hank! His use of the word "groovy!" CHARLES. JAMES MCAVOY. This is my face right now: <3_<3
