So, as mentioned in the meme above, we are planning a trip to Las Vegas. We're going on Monday the 29th and coming back on Friday the 2nd, I think it is. Rob found a deal where if you book a certain number of nights at one hotel, you get free tickets to see a show and one of them was the one we were hoping to see while down there (the Cirque du ( Read more... )

If you can psych yourself up for 6, I think you should be good. Toronto to LA direct is 5. If you guys get bored in Vegas, you should drive down to visit Disneyland me! Aww, come on, it's only another 5 hours in a car! Hehe. :)

This is the thing. I get antsy to get off the plane after the less than three to Florida. Though I'm not sure if that's because I know how long it is, so at around the 2 1/2 mark I'm geared up to leave, or if that's my time limit. Guess I'll find out. In any case, I would really like to take the edge off if I can. Without drinking wine, which will just make me have to pee and there is no way I'm getting up during the flight.

Oooh! I would totally love to do that, and actually looked into whether that would be an option time-wise and fight-wise and stuff, but since we're only down there from late Monday to late-ish Friday, and we have the show and the trip to the Grand Canyon, plus a day or two to walk the strip and hopefully to sit in the warm and read and stuff, it's not going to be possible this time.

I just asked Rob and he says the direct is actually just under 5 hours, which sounds a lot better than 6 to me, for some reason ;) Especially when it's phrased as 4 hours and 45 minutes ;)

Come with us! A friend of ours is actually going down at the end of our stay there, so we're meeting up with him for dinner on one of the days.

My brother and his girlfriend are doing the same trip this past week, actually. Or similar... I think they're doing a few things we're not, and I don't think they're going to see Cirque. But yeah. They've been saying the weather was cool and rainy. But they went to Florida a few years ago about two weeks before we went and they had cold weather and when we went, it was perfect ;)

Do you find that having something to engage in (puzzles, movie, book) helps at all? If you were worried about that 2.5 hour mark, you could start your movie around hour 2, or after they serve the snack or something, so as to extend the time your brain is not directly playing the "WTF I'm in a plane!" song.

We start the movies as soon as we can to distract me. But I find nothing really distracts me *that* much. There's no way I'd make it to the 2 hour mark without having something to distract me. I find at the beginning of the flight, it's not too bad. But then I start feeling like I'm really ready to be there already, kind of like cabin fever or something. But again, it could be like the antsyness you get at the end of the work day. It's not too bad at 1 or 2, but by the time 3 comes along and you're leaving at 4:00, you're ready to just go.

I loved Las Vegas! LOVED IT.

It is paradise for anyone who is physically disabled, because we can participate in everything. :-)

We went to see Celine Dion at Caesar's Palace (fabulous!) and were also able to spring for some lower-priced shows as well. (We saw a Neil Diamond tribute show, and a female impersonator show.)

There is SO MUCH to do, even if you don't gamble. (We don't.) Don't forget to visit the Coca-Cola store, and the M&M store! Also, the Bellagio fountains -- I recommend that you watch more than once, because the fountain dancing is set to different music each time.

There is also an erupting volcano outside of the Mirage hotel! And you can ride a roller coaster in New York New York! Also, visit the Stratosphere lookout for the best view of the city. (There are rides at the Stratosphere too.)

And we still didn't cover everything we wanted to see. Gotta save Paris and Venice for next time -- I already can't wait! :-)

I'll skip the roller coaster (and probably most rides, actually... I'm really not a ride person, and definitely not thrill rides -- the plane will be enough of a thrill ride for me, thank you very much!), but the rest sounds very cool. I'm really looking forward to walking the strip and seeing all the stuff in person that you see on TV all the time.

Too bad I can't get married by Elvis!
