Welcome to Lyssoizys Press. The name stems from an amalgamation of Lyssa, the ancient Greek goddess of Madness, and Oizys, the ancient Greek goddess of Distress and Anguish. Herein lies the repository for Lady Strange’s original short stories and poetry, Arashi fan-fictions, Bleach fan-fictions, Hermione Granger and Severus Snape fan-fictions from the Harry Potter series, murder mysteries and the occasional piece of artwork.
In the coming months, I will be gradually archiving my previous literary endeavours here. Please be patient as this happens. If you are looking for my older writings, please sift through the fiction archive index. If you are looking for a work-in-progress, please search the tags index. Both these indexes may be found below the header, under the Xenophon quote.

RULES & REGULATIONS
For (1) security reasons and (2) the continued preservation of my anonymity, I screen those seeking ‘admittance’ to my writings. If you wish to read my writings, leave a comment here. Given my experience with trolls and ‘sock puppets’, I would like to know who my readers are. This is not to alienate readers.
I am merely trying to run an inclusive ‘archive’ for my writings and works. The identities of my readers (which fandom they like, who they are, and so on) and their interests are of interest to me. Some of you, I may already know from the Harry Potter (henceforth HP) and Arashi fandoms respectively.
Should you be amongst them, I would appreciate it if you would drop a line here so that I might add you in due course.

MY WRITING PHILOSOPHY & METHODOLOGY
I think when I write, and I hope readers think along with my fictions when they read.
I always make sure my fics/stories exist in a complete manuscript and/or typescript before I post them. This is so as to ensure that I only put up stories/works of fiction that I can see to completion. My rationale for putting up fics/stories only when I have a complete manuscript is because I dislike it when stories leave the readers "hanging". I believe that it is only courteous to the readers to post things that the author can see to completion.
I write on the go - on buses and the tube/metro/electric train. As such, I tend to handwrite my stories first. This is a residual habit from my early youth when my family was in severely reduced circumstances and did not have a computer. Even when we finally had a computer in my late teenage years, it was a primitive 486 that was shared by 6-8 people.
I also tend to conduct some research and planning for fictions before the actual writing. Only when I am able to fully conceptualise a piece of writing to the end do I begin the research and writing processes.
When the handwritten draft is done, it goes through the first round of editing. When that is done, I will create a ‘fair copy’ manuscript, which I will then type out. After a round of editing, I send this typescript to my preliminary readers (in the case of original fiction and Arashi fan-fiction) or betas (in the case of HP fan-fictions). Then it gets back to me -- edited, proofread and compiled. After a final read-through, they are html-ised and posted.
As you can probably tell, it takes many months for a fic to be completely written, and another 2-3 months of editing/beta-reading before it is put up. This is how I go about writing.

MY FANDOMS 01 - HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE
The Harry Potter (henceforth called HP) universe is created by J. K. Rowling. I just like to take her characters out to play now and then.
I ‘ship’ the AU pairing of Hermione Granger (HG) and Severus Snape (SS). I believe in the Rhett Butler and Gerald O’Hara school of thought - like begets liking. That is why I like to throw them together. Hermione is clever, witty and insightful. Severus is mordant, truculent and intelligent. They could, under the right circumstances work.
Most of my fictions on them were written before 2003, that is, prior to Deathly Hallows (Book 7) and Half-Blood Prince (Book 6), and much before Ms Rowling revealed the names of several of the staff members of the school for instance. My writings on this pairing range from the dystopic, murder mysteries, satire, romance, angst, drama, fluff, romance and in an AU-within-an-AU setting.
Occasionally, I write general HP fan-fictions. These are usually one-shot pieces which range from humour, crack, satire, and drama.

Arashi is a five member Japanese band under the Johnny’s Entertainment label. Their five members are: (1) Ohno Satoshi, (2) Sakurai Sho, (3) Aiba Masaki, (4) Ninomiya Kazunari, (5) Matsumoto Jun. I’ve been following them since their inception in 1999, so I grew up with them, so to speak. In a way, I am of an age with them as I am born in the same year as Mr Ohno.
The fan-fictions about them range from crack fictions, heterosexual fictions (where the men pair off ordinary women from without the entertainment industry), humour, angst, drama, romance, the occasional member-pairing fictions (with implied rather than explicit slash), and alternative universe (henceforth called AU). This last category may be further broken down into heterosexual fictions, crack, and plain ‘wild cards’.

WHY IS THIS COMMUNITY LOCKED?
As I have received several notes and queries on this Particular Matter, I shall address the issue here.
Question 1: Why are your fics locked? Shouldn't these things be open for everyone to read? I don't want to "join" a stupid community or site just to read writings that may be crap.
Answer: Lyssoizys Press is just a repository of my writings. For years I have written material and they are scattered all over the internet. I wanted one place where they are collated and this place is it.
There is a simple reason why Lyssoizys Press is 'locked'. Years ago, I was affiliated as a DPhil candidate with an institution I shall call S.O.O.T. When I was at S.O.O.T, there was a lot of politicking, rules-behind-the-rules and whatnot. Due to a combination several factors I will not divulge, I was given an ultimatum and sent down. That was in mid 2007.
However during my time with S.O.O.T and following my departure from S.O.O.T (which is geographically half the world away from me), I have been 'stalked' and 'trolled' online. This has been going on since 2006 when I first came to be part of S.O.O.T. Since 2006 (following my brief affiliation with S.O.O.T), I have received emails impugning my character, academic credentials, abilities, background and so on. Not only did I receive emails to my private non-S.O.O.T email account, I was also 'stalked' and 'trolled' on my personal LJ as well as my private philosophical blog. After I was sent down in May 2007, these emails took to insulting not just my character, credentials, abilities, background &ca, they also started claiming that I would forever more be blocked from academia and even went so far as to say that any academician who endorsed me should be 'taken to the proverbial shed and hacked to pieces'. Because I did not respond to any of these emails, they soon started to redouble their efforts of acquiring 'sock puppet' LJ and IJ accounts so as to rehash all the insults listed above on (i) my personal LJ, (ii) my private philosophy blog, (iii) all the blogs/accounts I have on IJ and LJ used for role-playing purposes.
I have traced all these messages and notes to a most singular IP. All the IPs for these email notes and sock puppet LJ/IJ messages would be from the computer centre of S.O.O.T or some other building in that same institution.
I have no idea how the person(s) doing this found all my blogs and journals. I use no real names nor do I mention real places in my personal journal. Even the names I use online are not my real name. But the truth is, this has been going on since 2006 when I first became affiliated with S.O.O.T. As this was getting quite sickening, I complained to the S.O.O.T computer centre people as well as to S.O.O.T. proper to do something about this. The department in S.O.O.T. to which I was briefly a member did not reply. The troll redoubled its efforts. The S.O.O.T computer centre representatives told me that they could do nothing and that I should ignore this nonsense. It has been many years since the whole 'being sent down from S.O.O.T' fiasco and I'm still receiving these emails and messages on all different LJ platforms from many different sock puppet accounts with the same S.O.O.T based IP.
To this day, this is still ongoing.
As of late June 2008, these trollish and stalkerish notes have started to impugn not only my character, credentials and qualifications but also turned to insult my immediate family and former lecturers. Thus, I lock down on everything.
UPDATE 9th August 2009:
As of early August 2009, these trollish messages have started making more sock puppet LJ accounts to stalk me on my RP journals, personal locked journal and here, using whatever I write on those places against me. For example, in my personal LJ, I bitch about the rising cost of basic necessities, the troll taunts me for being poor and that he/she knows I would never get anywhere in life. Another example, when I mention my freelance research work and how tired I am by reading microfilms, I an mocked by the troll that he/she knows I will never amount to anything and my suffering is the proof. Yet another example, on one of my RPs, I talk about cations and anions and the rain, the troll sockpuppet LJ left a message that I was pretending to be smart when I was nothing but an academic pariah and permanent outcast from the ivory tower.
UPDATE 26th May 2010:
Troll still sends messages because I'm still trying to get back into academia. I wrote to a certain academician half the world away from me in a bid to get a feeler as to whether I could study with this professor. The academician did not reply and it has been nearly a month. Troll bites back on a new sockpuppet account that I should know better than to think anyone in the ivory tower would want to associate with an academic pariah.
UPDATE 3rd May 2011:
Just when I thought I could continue to ignore the occasional Troll-ish messages about my status as an academic pariah, the Troll(s) have continued the chicanery when I turned down a very flattering offer of admission to a DPhil programme in the country where S.O.O.T. is located. Owing to the fact that this offer came with neither fee waiver nor funding nor graduate student assistantship nor research assistantship nor fellowship, I had to turn it down. I cannot afford to maintain myself there, nor can I afford to pay the tuition fees at international rate. I also am unable to find any means as funding from this part of the world to head there to study, let alone find some source of funding over there. For these reasons, I turned down the offer even though the institution was a very good one and I was very keen on the institution. I formally sent an email to the institution declining the offer because the offer letter and package had yet to reach me (it takes 1-2 months for snail mail air post from half the world away to reach me). However, since late March, the Troll(s) have been badgering me and claiming that I should give up on academia because I would never be allowed back with all the privileges. By mid-April, the institution which had offered me a place emailed me and I tried to find out if there was funding. However, at that point, the Troll(s) sent me a cloaked email to my personal account accusing me of keeping the Uni dangling as I had no intention of accepting it. And when I turned down the institution's offer, the Troll(s) once more accused of thinking myself to grand to be able to turn down all offers made to me.
Because of this, membership to this community is MODERATED. I will screen people who wish to add me. No sock puppets allowed. I'm sorry if you think this is unreasonable, but that's the way it is. If you've read till this point without thinking "TL;DR", then you are halfway serious about reading my fics. Leave a message below and I will get back to you soon.
Question 2: What is "send down / sent down"?
Answer: 'Send down / Sent down' is a British English term. It means 'to be suspended or dismissed from a university'. It's a nicer term than 'expel / expulsion' because it is not a case where you are simply asked to get lost. When you are 'sent down', you are given an ultimatum, usually along the lines of "If you do not withdraw from the course/faculty/department/university, we will kick you out in terms so humiliating that you will never ever step foot in an academic institution again".

If your LJ is friends only and you are talking privately to friends, I couldn’t care less if you talk about my writing there. However, please, please do not put it up in a public space, do not put it up in a public entry or on public social networking mediums where people can find me.
Should you persist in thinking this is mean, paranoid and unreasonable of me, I'm sorry. Just know that these trolls haven't stopped and that I have to safeguard my real life personal interests. If you think I am uppity and unappreciative of those who want to recommend my fics (like the unknown maintainer/maintainers of the “arashi fic rec” tumbler), I am sorry. I do not mean to give offence, nor am I being uppity. I am trying to minimise trouble for myself. And I want to protect myself in real life. Please understand this.

(4) complain about the incorrect language usage even though I have repeated again and again that I use Br. Eng. There is no right or wrong between Am. Eng. and Br. Eng. They are simply different. One is not "better" than the other. If you are the type to insist that I use Am. Eng. or else, I put it to you that words like "Either" have 2 ways of pronouncing. If you read it as "eether" and someone else says "ither", do you tell them that they are wrong and must switch to saying "eether" because it is the only correct way of reading that word? Of course you don't. The same goes for Br. Eng versus Am. Eng.
If you belong to any of the 4 camps above, then I will save us both grief by telling you that my fics are not for you because they will most likely offend you. I am not saying this to be a snob, but people have complained about those things before and I just want to minimise trouble for you and for me.

Troll bites back on a new sockpuppet account that I should know better than to think anyone in the ivory tower would want to associate with an academic pariah.
UPDATE 3rd May 2011:
Just when I thought I could continue to ignore the occasional Troll-ish messages about my status as an academic pariah, the Troll(s) have continued the chicanery when I turned down a very flattering offer of admission to a DPhil programme in the country where S.O.O.T. is located. Owing to the fact that this offer came with neither fee waiver nor funding nor graduate student assistantship nor research assistantship nor fellowship, I had to turn it down. I cannot afford to maintain myself there, nor can I afford to pay the tuition fees at international rate. I also am unable to find any means as funding from this part of the world to head there to study, let alone find some source of funding over there. For these reasons, I turned down the offer even though the institution was a very good one and I was very keen on the institution. I formally sent an email to the institution declining the offer because the offer letter and package had yet to reach me (it takes 1-2 months for snail mail air post from half the world away to reach me). However, since late March, the Troll(s) have been badgering me and claiming that I should give up on academia because I would never be allowed back with all the privileges. By mid-April, the institution which had offered me a place emailed me and I tried to find out if there was funding. However, at that point, the Troll(s) sent me a cloaked email to my personal account accusing me of keeping the Uni dangling as I had no intention of accepting it. And when I turned down the institution's offer, the Troll(s) once more accused of thinking myself to grand to be able to turn down all offers made to me.
Because of this, membership to this community is MODERATED. I will screen people who wish to add me. No sock puppets allowed. I'm sorry if you think this is unreasonable, but that's the way it is. If you've read till this point without thinking "TL;DR", then you are halfway serious about reading my fics. Leave a message below and I will get back to you soon.
Question 2: What is "send down / sent down"?
Answer: 'Send down / Sent down' is a British English term. It means 'to be suspended or dismissed from a university'. It's a nicer term than 'expel / expulsion' because it is not a case where you are simply asked to get lost. When you are 'sent down', you are given an ultimatum, usually along the lines of "If you do not withdraw from the course/faculty/department/university, we will kick you out in terms so humiliating that you will never ever step foot in an academic institution again".

It has come to my attention that someone has linked one of my fics to a tumbler (sic) site called "arashi fic recs". I don't mean to cause offence to anyone or the person who recommended the fic on that site. I am flattered, but please, please do not do that. Please also do not link or publicise my fics on tumbler (sic) or any other social networking medium such as facebook, your own public LJ blog, tumbler, myspace or whatever it is that is currently popular. If your LJ is friends only and you are talking privately to friends, I couldn’t care less if you talk about my writing there. However, please, please do not put it up in a public space, do not put it up in a public entry or on public social networking mediums where people can find me.
Should you persist in thinking this is mean, paranoid and unreasonable of me, I'm sorry. Just know that these trolls haven't stopped and that I have to safeguard my real life personal interests. If you think I am uppity and unappreciative of those who want to recommend my fics (like the unknown maintainer/maintainers of the “arashi fic rec” tumbler), I am sorry. I do not mean to give offence, nor am I being uppity. I am trying to minimise trouble for myself. And I want to protect myself in real life. Please understand this.

Should you be a new reader desirous of joining this community, please drop a note here and tell me the following:
(a) you have read the rules and will abide by them
(b) you understand why these rules exist.
(c) how you stumbled upon my work,
(d) where you stumbled upon my work, and
(e) why you would like to continue to read the other products of my 'diseased wits'.
My fics are NOT for you if you are:
(1) very conservative, e.g. believe that anyone (alive, dead, fictional or real) who does not subscribe to your ideological and/or personal beliefs is wrong and immoral, and that it is your "duty" to change this person to have the same mindset as you.
(2) prone to over reaction, e.g. "OMG how can a woman who was abused by her dad in her childhood hate him! It's so unrealistic. She can never hate him. She still loves him and forgives him for beating her, and for continuing to beat her mother because she knows that families stay together and love each other no matter what. No one can hate their parents, ever!"

(4) complain about the incorrect language usage even though I have repeated again and again that I use Br. Eng. There is no right or wrong between Am. Eng. and Br. Eng. They are simply different. One is not "better" than the other. If you are the type to insist that I use Am. Eng. or else, I put it to you that words like "Either" have 2 ways of pronouncing. If you read it as "eether" and someone else says "ither", do you tell them that they are wrong and must switch to saying "eether" because it is the only correct way of reading that word? Of course you don't. The same goes for Br. Eng versus Am. Eng.
If you belong to any of the 4 camps above, then I will save us both grief by telling you that my fics are not for you because they will most likely offend you. I am not saying this to be a snob, but people have complained about those things before and I just want to minimise trouble for you and for me.

If you wish access to the community on DW, you will have to reply to the rules page ON THAT DW COMMUNITY. If you don't know how, I will tell you how now:
- get yourself a dw account
- Go to http://inkwellnquill.dreamwidth.org. Find the Rules page on that DW community.
- All the modpost entries are open to the public. It will be easy to find. Look for the entry that says "Introductory Post". Click it, read the rules and post a comment there. Your application will be considered in due time.
- In case all that is too confusing for you, let me make it simpler. If you want to be a member of Lyssoizys Press at dw, make sure you are signed in to your dreamwidth account. Once you have signed in, go here (http://inkwellnquill.dreamwidth.org/298.html)
