The Ink Family Legacy: Generation 5, Chapter 6 Part 2

Aug 22, 2011 05:24

So five days after I finish taking pictures for the wedding, a wedding pose pack comes out. -_- I put all this effort in just to have an easy way out appear! Story of my life. XD

| Part One |

--- --- --- --- ---

Nothing, perhaps, is more nerve wracking than the few hours before a wedding.

Even though Abel was absolutely sure that Kira was the only woman for him, he couldn't help but be nervous. Would everything go smoothly? Would he flub his lines? Would he, upon scanning the crowd and never finding his parents, start crying?

As he sat there pondering, he heard footsteps coming up the aisle.

"There you are Abel. Taking a break?"

"Yeah...kinda."

"Mind if I join you?"

"You've got something on your mind." Luke stated as he sat down. "You don't have to say anything if you don't want, but I'm willing to listen if you do."

"It's nothing, really."

"Oh?"

"Oh, don't think I'm nervous about choosing Kira or anything!" Abel added hastily. "I'm sure she's the right one. It's more everything after and such. Like whether or not I'll screw things up royally. Or whether or not I can make her life as happy as she deserves from here to eternity. Um, those sorts of things."

Luke chuckled and patted Abel on the shoulder briefly before saying anything. "That's normal, kid."

"I mean, any way you look at it, a marriage is a big deal." Luke said. "But if your reasons are solid, then there's nothing to worry about. It's not because you feel you have to. No one's forcing you. It's for love, and that's the way it should be."

Luke paused for a minute, then added, "And hell, I think you're the best son-in-law I could hope for. Kira means the world to me, and I still want you to have her, if that means anything to you."

"Thanks Luke." Abel replied softly. "That...that means a lot, actually."

"Abel, Abel~!" Amy called, dashing in. "Hey, everything's almost ready!"

"Okay." he said with a tense smile. "Let's start this thing, shall we?"

--- --- --- --- ---

The music started, the crowd rose. Abel swallowed his nerves for the millionth times and kept his eyes on the aisle.

The first ones down were the flower girl and ring bearer, followed closely by their escort to make sure they got to their seats.

Both seemed to be taking their job very seriously, actually!

Next was Levi and Rhyme...

...followed by Tyler and Sparrow.

Sparrow was marching a little slower, being eight months pregnant and all, but with Tyler's arm to steady her she made it to her seat.

Noah and Isis followed soon after...

...and the wedding party was finished out by Seth and Diana.

Then it was time for the main event.

Kira was incredibly nervous. After all, every pair of eyes were squarely on her in this moment. Was her hair okay? Was her dress good enough?

But as she took steady, even steps with her father down the aisle, her fears melted away. This was her day. Everyone here was happy for her and wanted to see her smiling.

Besides, waiting for her at the end of the aisle was all she ever wanted.

"Alright Abel." Luke said gruffly, choking back emotion. "You take care of her, alright?"

"Of course Mr. Dayes." Abel replied respectfully, only taking his eyes off of Kira long enough to address him. Kira was always beautiful, but today was just...wow.

"Well...here I am." she whispered.

"Here you are. You're beautiful."

Her lips curled into a smile. "You're not too bad yourself. Your tux really suits you."

"Alright." Abel said, taking a deep breath and moving into the proper spot. "Are you ready?"

"Of course I am. Let's get married."

"Kira, to me you have always been a beautiful, intelligent woman. You never minced words, and somehow you could see through the front that I had been carefully building the seven years before we met. I think I was entranced by you from day one, and I promise that I will love you more and more every day for the rest of our lives..."

"...no matter when they end."

"Abel, I'm not perfect. And you still love me. You know everything I'm ashamed of, all I regret, and still you love me. You've...you've always been like the sun to me, who had lived underground. And at first it hurt...but now I know that I could never go without. I love you Abel."

"And my life will always be yours to hold."

There certainly was an emotional crowd present at the wedding. Even Luke, who promised himself that he wouldn't cry, found himself tearing up.

"This is forever, isn't it Abel?" Kira whispered.

"You think I could possibly love you for anything less than that?" he replied with a smile.

And, finally, the first kiss as husband and wife.

"Kira Ink. It's got a ring to it, right?"

"Your last name could be Kaplawski and I'd still love it. It means that I'm really apart of your family now."

"Hey, that last name isn't so bad."

Clapping, cheering, and rice throwing ensued! Most were more than relieved that the two were finally married after everything they went through.

"Well, at least we had a great turnout, hmm?" Abel chuckled as the crowd continued to cheer. "Hope we have enough tables for them in the hall."

"Ah, speaking of the hall..."

"What do you say we cut the cake first?"

"Dessert first? How avant garde."

"Shut up, you've been eying that cake all day too."

So cake first it was!

"Alright everyone, it's cake time!" Kira called.

"And let it be known that I get the first slice." she added. "Anyone who has a problem, please remember that I still have cake knife in hand."

And with that not-so-subtle threat from the queen of not-so-subtly, Kira cut the wedding cake...

...and made off with the first piece.

The rest of the party was left to scramble for a piece, with the very pregnant Luna elbowing her way to an early slice.

"You see Amy..." Kira explained. "...the key to getting what you want is fighting for it."

"Is it really?" Amélie replied skeptically.

After that, the married couple opened the dance floor with their first dance. With both of them in the entertainment business, they were already old pros at dancing.

"And we didn't even practice!" Kira laughed breathlessly as Abel twirled her across the dance floor.

"That's because we're natural entertainers, darling." Abel drawled jokingly, pulling another dramatic stunt.

After that, the reception slipped into a comfortable buzz. Amélie spent a long time chatting with Paige, listening to stories about Clover and Jin's wedding.

Tyler was fussing over Sparrow the whole time, constantly bring food to her and insisting that she sit down.

"When do you think she'll be born?" Tyler asked. "I know the doctor thinks we've got a few weeks left, but I can't help think that she'll be here by next weekend!"

"Well, we get Amy after next weekend." she laughed. "It'd be nice if the baby was already born so we don't have to take her to the hospital with us!"

There was even more baby talk over by Luna, who was talking to her parents about her baby being slightly overdue.

"I don't know Dad, Aries was born right on time." Luna sighed. "What do you think Mom?"

"Well, our D'Luc family does have a history of odd pregnancies, as does the Ink family...so it is hard to say." Nessie replied with a chuckle.

Noah and Isis, meanwhile, were enjoying their cake and agreeing that if Sobek were to have any siblings, it wouldn't be for a while.

Not that their son wasn't adorable, but he certainly was a lot of work. They were really feeling it now that they were out of the main house.

"Seth! Hey hey, Seth, look!" Diana called enthusiastically.

"Hey, see this? I caught the bouquet!" she said proudly, her face still flushed. "I almost elbowed Mina in the eye, but I totally caught it!"

"Oh, is that so? Good for you." Seth said teasingly.

"Is that all you have to say?" she complained.

"Why?"

"Why, he says!" Diana huffed. "Figures I get the one guy in all of Riverview who doesn't know what catching the bouquet means!"

Seth cut off her rant with a well timed kiss, though.

"Silly. Of course I know what it means." he laughed. "It means that you're the next to get married, right?"

She returned to smiling almost instantly. "So you did know. Shame on you for teasing me then! You were crushing my delicate heart here - it's like a girl's dream, you know."

"In that case..." Seth said, leaning in. "...would you like marry me?"

She grinned. "Is this really how you're going to ask for my hand in marriage?"

He reached out and stroked her cheek. "It is."

"In that case," she replied with a grin. "I would very much like to marry you, Seth Ink."

To her surprise, Seth dropped to one knee and placed a ring on her finger. She thought this proposal was going to go without a ring!

"Whoa! Seth, this ring is, like, really nice!" She looked up at him in surprise. "You were already planning on asking me, weren't you?"

Seth smiled knowingly. "I'm spontaneous, but not that spontaneous. I've had that ring for a while."

Diana responded by launching herself into his arms, hugging him tightly.

"So we started dating at your sister's wedding and we got engaged at your brother's." Diana commented. "What's next, I wonder?"

"I wonder too."

Away from that vignette, Kira was dancing with her father. It was odd - growing up, she never imagined having a relationship with him that had him so involved in her wedding.

"Are you having a fun time, Dad?" Kira asked.

"How can I not be?" he chuckled. "Food, music, and pleasant company, right?"

Kira laughed - she was definitely like him in that it didn't take much to make them content.

"I'm really happy for you, Kira." Luke added. "I'll always worry about you, but I guess I can rest easy with Abel taking care of you. He's a good guy."

She smiled. "Yeah, he really is."

She leaned in for a hug. "Make sure you stick around Riverview for a while, okay Dad? Don't move back to the city or I'll miss you."

"Don't worry. I've got to be around for when you two start having kids, right? I have a feeling Abel's a big family kind of guy."

"You're right about that one."

As the party wound down, Amy approached Abel with a gift wrapped box.

"Um, Abel? I got you this present!" she said, holding it out to him.

"For me? Thanks Amy! You know you didn't have to get me anything." he replied.

"I know." Amélie replied. "But I really wanted to! Um, I know I've been really clingy lately and worrying you. But I know that even if you can't spend as much time with me, you still love me. I'm going to be mature, I promise! So, since I couldn't say it properly before."

"Congratulations on your marriage, Abel!"

"Thank you Amy. That's the best gift you could've given me."

"The gift I gave is pretty cool too! It's a painting."

Abel would miss Amy this month, but it was a load off his mind to know that she'd be dealing with it the best she could.

--- --- --- --- ---

"Wow." Kira said. "Even the house feels different now that I'm 'Mrs. Ink'. Weird, isn't it?"

"Kira dear." Abel said. "You can't possibly be only thinking about the house at a time like this, can you?"

"Maybe I am." she teased.

"Oh, is that so? Well, perhaps I can change your mind..."

"...like this!"

Kira gasped, then started giggling uncontrollably. "A-Abel! C-cut it out!"

"The house isn't so cool now, is it?" he teased.

"I-I'm s-s-serious!" she laughed.

"That's enough." she finally laughed, slapping his shoulder. "You're terrible. Some people have the mental capacity to hold several thoughts at once."

"Yep, I'm a simpleton." Abel agreed with a chuckle. "Right now all I've got is you, me, and upstairs."

"So I guess..." he said, hoisting her up into the air. "...that it's up to me to get us there!"

"H-hey!" she protested.

"Don't worry, I won't drop you."

"I wasn't worried." she replied. "What, gonna carry me over the threshold or something?"

"That's the plan!"

So up the front porch stairs and up to the threshold they went, Abel moving as fast as was safe.

Kira, in the meantime, appeared to be making it as difficult as possible for him to keep his focus, kissing everything within her reach relentlessly.

"Kira, don't you want us to make it upstairs? Because you're making it difficult." he murmured against her lips.

"I enjoy making things difficult for you."

They did, eventually, make it to the heir bedroom though.

So they spent the entirety of their at-home honeymoon...

...occupied.

--- --- --- --- ---

So while Abel and Kira were elsewhere, Amélie was spending some quality time with her other siblings!

Noah and Isis took her and Sobek fishing on cloudy days. Amy never pictured Noah as the fishing type, but apparently he took up the hobby when he was in Egypt.

"What kinds a fish are here, Amy?" Sobek asked.

"Um, I'm not sure. Probably trout or something."

"I wanna shawk!" Sobek proclaimed. "Or a awwigator!"

"I don't think either are here, 'Bek."

"Aw man, an anchovy?" Amy complained.

"Keep going and you'll get better fish." Noah advised.

"...what's a jellyfish doing in a freshwater fish reserve miles from the ocean?"

Good question.

Once the fishing was done, it was time to have a fish dinner! Roasting fillets over the fire was always fun.

"Hey, if I caught an anchovy, how did it get this big?"

"Don't question physics and eat, Ames." Noah said.

"Yeah, it's best just to not think about it too much." Isis added.

Amy's time with Noah's family was very laid back, with the adults letting her do more or less what she wanted. It was relaxing...

...especially when compared to her time with Seth and Diana. Diana was an extremely active person, so she was constantly dragging Seth and Amy from activity to activity! They even hit up the local swimming pool after buying all the waterproof sunblock the corner store had to offer.

The water slide was a lot of fun, with even Seth joining in on the fun! Amy suspected that this wasn't his first time playing on a water slide - he was far too good at it.

And of course there had to be swimming in the main pool!

"Seth, did you see my jump?!"

"Yeah - great job Amy." he praised.

"Yaaaa!" Diana yelled, splashing Amy. "That's for having the same hairstyle as me!"

"My swimming hair has always been like this! You're the copycat!"

"Pshaw, as if."

And then, like the totally responsible adults they were, Seth and Diana had a light drink while Amy played in the sand.

But don't worry, it was fine.

Amy's time with Tyler and Sparrow was mostly quiet and at their house. Sparrow had just had her baby a few days before Amy came, so they didn't go out very much.

"Well, I think I'll move here then..."

"Sure you wanna do that, Tyler?" Amy said haughtily.

Tyler hesitated. Damn it, it shouldn't be this hard to beat an 11 year old at chess...

But Sparrow called Amy from the nursery, so Tyler was spared his fifth crippling defeat.

Amy wandered into the nursery, feeling it oddly small compared to the one back home.

Sparrow was quietly reading from a nursery rhymes book to the baby. She didn't know words yet, but it still seemed like she was enjoying her mother's attention.

"Hey there Robyn." Amy cooed. "There's a good girl, hmm?"

Amélie didn't have anything against babies - they were quite cute - but she was still worried that Abel's would have all the attention. She supposed she'd just have to be strong then.

"Oh, you needed me for something Row?" Amy asked.

"Yes - could you watch Robyn while I go warm up a bottle for her? I'll only be gone a couple of minutes, it'll be fine."

Amy wasn't so sure about everything being fine, especially since Robyn was starting to squirm and fuss a little from hunger.

Um, what did babies like? Did they like music?

Amy started whistling a tune she only half remembered, making up the rest as she went.

It was half a lullaby and half one of Nicotine Dreams's songs, weaving together in a surprisingly coherent way.

And, to Amy's relief, Robyn drifted off into a light doze without crying.

Looked like everything was fine after all.

By the time Amy got to Rhyme's week, she was missing home pretty bad but was determined to show Abel she was mature.

"Don't run too far ahead Amélie!" Rhyme called, trying to wrangle Lyra at the same time.

The night did have a way of relieving the worst of her worries, though.

Rhyme and Levi were another laid back pair, having picnics at night in the height of firefly season.

Amy had spent time with four different families and had felt like a comfortable part of all of them. Well, that was because they were all part of one larger family, she supposed.

Amélie smiled to herself. She sure was lucky.

--- --- --- --- ---

But as she expected, being home really was the best! She had missed her room, the house, and of course Abel and Kira.

"You know you're entirely too old for a bedtime story, right?"

"Not until I'm thirteen I'm not!"

"Alright, this is The Adventures of the Logic Princess. Once upon a time, there was a girl who..."

"'Be rational!' she asked the dreaded Pi Wizard, drawing her bold i sword. 'Foolish girl, your weapon isn't real!' he replied..."

But before the book could delve into any more terrible math jokes, Amy drifted off to sleep.

"Goodnight Amy." he whispered, ducking to kiss her head. "Try not to dream of factorials."

"We missed you." he added.

"She's asleep?" Kira asked, sneaking into the room.

"Yep. Dropped off right after chapter 3."

"Ah, well that's the longest chapter."

Abel crossed the room and pulled Kira into his arms. "What's up? You've got this look like you want to say something."

"Well, I was thinking." she replied.

"I mean, you're so good with Amy. Good with all kids, really. And I was wondering...maybe we should start trying to have our own? I know we've only been married a month, but-"

Abel cut her words off with a kiss.

"Like you even had to ask!" Abel said enthusiastically. "Let's have a baby, Kira."

--- --- --- --- ---

I'm currently 4 for 5 on actually throwing parties for weddings! Woo! But I'm still only 2 for 5 on marriage before the first baby. We'll see what my ratio is at the end. XD

Okay, let's hit up Part Three to see where all this talk of babies gets up, hmm? (Not like it could really lead to much else...this is still a legacy, after all.)
