I finally heard from Prevea on my application for Community Care. They say they'll let the rest of my $4200 medical bill go if I can come up with $700 by the end of the month. (They are clearly not as forgiving as the other medical establishments who let me off freely ( Read more... )

Gosh, I wish I could help you, Inky! But our money comes in and goes right back out with the bills, and I never see much of it these days. My daughter is about to move home to study for her Bar Exam (in debt for the next 20 years, sad to say), and she has to refinance her car in May. We are just one emergency repair away from maxing out our credit cards too.

Have you thought about books to sell? I know that's almost sacrilege, but I've noticed prices rising on Amazon since ebook readers are becoming so popular.

Heh, all of my books are well-worn, yellowed and dog-eared. I have The Ghost in the Swing on my shelf, which is worth a nice amount, even in the beat-up paperback, since it's long out of print and a nostalgia item for 70's girls, but it technically belongs to my sister, and I'd like to pass it on to her kids. I have debated selling my 'Animation in 12 Hard Lessons' which is hard to get. But when I went to see if The Complete E.C. Segar Popeye books were worth anything, I just found one of the two volumes I don't own yet being offered for 13.99, which puts me square in the path of temptation.

It's all good, I know all my friends are broke, too. :D Oddly, of the things I've listed on Ebay, only Deady Sings has had looks yet, and even a bid. Maybe some rich Goth Voltaire fans will get into a bidding war, who knows? (Or maybe the looks are because my cat is in the photo with it!)
