Hiatus is still on, but I'm here to post birthday fic for
yuxo ♥ Happy birthday, and I hope you like this. I wrote this in between studying for Economics and Literature, and thought I might as well post it (despite the hiatus) since I already wrote it anyway. Written in lower-case.
Title: Life after Love
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Dong Bang Shin Ki
Pairing(s): Yunho/Changmin
Disclaimer: The boys do not belong to me. This is fiction.
life after love
why is it, you think, that after yunho walked into your life, you start to notice every little mundane thing in your life you never paid attention to before.
the unfurling of petals that remind you of the way his eyes flutter open in the morning and the opening of an umbrella. the raindrops racing each other on the window pane. the sound of ice clinking together in a glass of a water. the stretching of a sparrow's wings, cutting through sunlight as it takes flight. the rhythmic thrum of a heartbeat under skin, as you listen for the details of a clandestine love affair.
the way a person can absorb heat from someone else just by being, the way someone can hold your world in his hands, a tiny rotating planet.
when he noses the centre of the palm, kissing your wrist, blinks against your skin so you feel the brush of his eyelashes, you feel like your world is gradually coming apart at the seams, and rearranging itself back together (so he's knitted tightly into it).
you purposely fit your lips to the glass where he drank from and watches the way he smiles when he notices. you pull him forward for a kiss - a direct one this time - full on the mouth, and the way he tastes lingers in your mouth long after the kiss is over, sweet as a secret tucked under your tongue, hard when you clench it between your teeth.
he always leaves something behind, the taste of mint after a kiss, a warmth that seeps through and under skin after an embrace, faint bruises after the desperate tightening of fingers that he apologizes for, tries to kiss away.
you love him for his strength, the strength he carries in the broad expanse of his shoulders, in his large hands, his tensed calves, but especially those shoulders that you like to rest your head on, that you like to hold onto (safety in a shipwreck). at night, you rub the knots of tension out of those shoulders that carry a world of weight and responsibility. you silently apologise for every mistake you made today, for every time you made him angry, and silently thank him for everything.
he catches one of your hands and asks you if he is an awful leader.
you're not, you tell him.
you don't tell him, you're the best, what'd we do without you? you don't tell him how you love to stand next to him on stage, how you like to feel his arms brushing yours when you're in formation, how you think you'd be helpless without him (and how you think that this is it, this is love, love like people always talk about, love like in the movies, love like happily ever after and meant to be together).
you don't know how to say all of that in words, but you have a feeling that yunho understands, because yunho is suddenly smiling at you in a way that warms you up from the inside.
you bend down, kiss him on the cheek and whisper, put down the world for a minute.
in answer, he presses you slowly onto the bed, burning his presence onto your skin (always leaving something behind) and tells you, i can't, not when you're such a big part of it.
