Apparently killing shit in the forest was just part one of the initiation rite, but the other two quests also did not involve dead chickens or beer kegs or whatever, so still fairly tame as initiations go. Finished up the other two quests (apparently when your party KOs you just get kicked out of the dungeon, which is pretty convenient? I guess? It was sort of dumb though, mostly Kannono is pants at TP conservation. Presumably I could fix this by tweaking the AI but that would require effort).
I met the rest of the members of Ad Libitum (including people I actually recognise o/ Stahn, Rutee, Reid, Ferah... and Chat, who... I was pretty sure was a girl in Tales of Eternia... so that was sort of trippy and I'm not sure if s/he's a reverse trap or my memory is going. wait, wikipedia tells me that she is indeed a girl, so it's not me. Your super boku powers don't fool me, chat.)
Anyway I'm now a full member of Ad Libitum, so they explained part of the world history to me and. okay. The current world crisis is because powerful countries are increasing their usage of fossil fuels (oh, no, sorry, phostia) and they're attacking weaker countries for their oil (sorry, phostia) and despoiling the countryside with drilling etc and taking over other territories for their agricultural needs, which I mean, I get that it's a concern, it's a perfectly valid plot.
but didn't we already go through how overuse of fossil fuels (oh, sorry, aer) is evil in vesperia
and didn't we just cover countries attacking each other for their oil reserves (no, sorry, belkines cryas) in graces
It's a current affairs concerns for sure but I'm thinking that the Tales scenario writer might want to consider branching out a little, hey.
Anyway, the next plot quest is apparently to help Veigue's hometown which is in trouble due to the aforementioned fossil fuel-related drama.
