It actually took a while before I managed to get to Veigue's hometown's fossil-fuel related quest, where I'm supposed to just rendezvous with some dudes to pass them necessities. Which they can't harvest for themselves because of all the drilling.
Except while in the forest (okay, it took me extremely long to realise that all the dungeons are named after fruits, vegetables, and desserts. Confeito Forest? Brownie Caves? Rhubarb Mountain? Seriously?) we run into Estelle. She's being chased by a dude named Sare, whose existence was helpfully foreshadowed by the skits that were triggered in the start of the dungeon.
To drive home the message that fossil fuels are evil and the people who use them are evil, Sare's hobby appears to be subjugating villages who don't want to hand over their phostia to random invading kingdoms. We beat him down and then he starts having a freakout about never realising how strong ~*the power of heart*~ was before, blah blah his entire life view is changed, and meanwhile I was kind of freaking out because it kind of sounded like he wanted to join my guild and fight for the side of good or something. But no, he just wants to rip our hearts out, so that was okay. Also, pretty sure it wasn't the power of heart that kicked your ass. Just saying.
Apparently Estelle's still a princess and her kingdom is actually another one of those powerful industrial countries, except she heard that phostia mining was having an adverse effect on the environment and stuff so she hired Yuri and Rita and went out to investigate. Yuri remains super hot and he can be in my party anytime, where by party I mean pants, but I'm sort of wondering if they changed Rita's seiyuu or something because her voice sounds really low ?_? I mean, it sounds like she either has a permanent sore throat or she's been having one too many late nights with Estelle.
Yuri and Rita end up joining Ad Libitum because they're wanted in their own country on suspicions of kidnapping the princess, then some of Veigue's friends from his hometown also come to join so they can have the wherewithal to also help their village. Apparently Ange has very loose standards when it comes to her guild and at this point it's like Ad Libitum is a borg of the disenfranchised.
We go on Estelle's quest to investigate the aftereffects of drawing phostia from the land. Back in the forest, we find that the phostia mining area has become weird and crystallised, so it seems it's true that mako is the lifeforce of the planet phostia mining is bad for the environment.
In between everything I've also been handling the minor quests. You can choose your own party now, so my criteria for forming a party is a convoluted process where I take into account their level, stats, class, and general attractiveness <- I also looked up some of the codes for the secret missions at the arena, and because I'm predictable I challenged Luke and Asch. Except they each have 40 000hp and sort of demolished my party in 30 seconds, so, uh, I'm... guessing I'm meant to try that when I'm not level 23... I wasn't even expecting Asch to be there when I started the mission, actually, but it seems that violence does bring them together.
