I've also gotten about 4 or 5 spam comments this week. Most of them have been hitting an ancient post from when I interviewed at MS back in 2008. My guess is that someone broke a captcha or something.
The really weird bit is that I don't feel like I'm being sold something.
Which seems like someone's simply adding noise to the discussion. That's a really bizarre thing to go out of one's way for and automate, I think. A super villain who creates a mega-weapon that converts all plaid to paisley cloth comes to mind; impressive accomplishment, but sorta leaves one wondering where they're going with it.
My bet: it's a comp.sci. grad project on humans interacting with computers which don't quite know how to hold a stable conversation yet. (At least I hope it is.)
