Ah, I see you, too, are discovering the joy of this holiday season.
You are ahead of me, though. It had not occurred to me to ask what people might deem appropriate. Until this point in my life, I have only purchased 'gifts' for Albus Dumbledore and Draco Malfoy. The only other nod to the season was the obligatory 'greeting card exchange' between colleagues and business associates.
I find the entire process to be vexing and awkward! If one receives a gift from someone, is one then obliged to give a gift in return? How does one know who 'counts' as a person to whom one ought to give a 'gift'? Mademoiselle Aurelius sent a gift to me yesterday, as you know - and I scarcely know her from Merlin! I've conversed with her less than a handful of times - how the sodding hell does that warrant a gift?
On the other hand, is there a rule, somewhere, about when one is not allowed to offer a gift? Because if Oliver Wood thinks I'm not going to give Winifred the Beginning Potions Kit, he's got another think coming! At any rate, you may

I've always been aware of the joy of the season. I've just been largely indifferent to it.
...You're really putting too much thought into it. You're not "obliged" to abide by any rules. If you want to gift a give, give it, and if you don't, don't. It's your money. Fuck Never mind social etiquette.
Inconvenience? Awkward indeed.
Rest assured old man, you'll get your weighing trays.

Oh, Perry, what fun is this?
If you're determined to do it this way, fine. I'd love for you to get me a photo frame - something sort of pretty, if you please - and promise to sit for a photo sometime in the near future. There seems to be a good chance I'll be able to enjoy such things again very soon, and I want one with all of us. I just wish I'd gotten one with Boru and
This goes for the rest of you, too. Well, not the frame part, but the photo part. One photo with everyone. That's not so much to ask, is it?
We could have copies made for everyone, if you like.

P.S. I've already got your gift. You'll have to take your chances.
To be honest I've not really contemplated what I might need let alone want. Books are always good, I suppose. I could use a new coat and some clothes... Since I seem to have rediscovered a social life Mine look pretty bad.
Though I'm sure you'd be loathe to shop for clothes or otherwise.

What qualifies as "pretty" First Pansy, now you....
...Why do you have to put it that way. All right... I suppose I can tolerate a photo.

P.S. I'm on tenterhooks.

You're quite cheerful... Christmas spirit indeed.

P.S. Are you going to come home for the holiday?

Duly noted. And my tolerance level for shopping is surprisingly high. It's something of a requisite for Slytherins. well-bred ones, anyway
I've got to take care of the cat, but I'll be visiting. Heh, why don't you come over? You're nice, maybe it'll like you better.
