You know what sucks? Thinking you were going to get a bonus, and then in an unprecedented event, your company did not hand out bonuses that year

In recent years, we became a publicly traded company, and last year "wasn't great for our investors"...so it was the first time they didn't do bonuses, because they would cut into the company profit and hurt our stock prices even more.
Needless to say, it seemed like it was going to be a standing decision for years to come and nobody was expecting them this year because everything was about cutting overhead rates since then...it was just nice to be rewarded this year, as an employee and not a shareholder.
