25th Birthday
Sooooo, I'm 25 today. That's...kind of a terrifying thought. Um. Anyway.
Seems like I should post some kind of retrospective or something. Well, it'll be a little hard considering I've been in serious hikikomori mode for more than 2 years (yeah let's not talk about that right now, okay? okay.) but I'll do what I can.
Productive or Self-Improving Things I Have Done Since I Dropped Off The Face Of The Earth A While Back:
1) Had A Job (the tutoring job I did mention a while back; it was enjoyable and intellectually stimulating and I would definitely be willing to do it again)
2) Taken Japanese Classes (Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 extramural classes offered by the Linguistics department; hoping to continue to Intermediate 1 at some point)
3) Taken Kulintang Playing Classes (more extramural classes, offered by the College of Music)
4) Gone To The Library Of Congress And Gotten An ID Card So I Could Sit And Read In The Main Reading Room For One Afternoon (...self-explanatory)
I had a surprisingly respectable fannish output for the year 2012.

Writing South (Eighteen Songs of a Nomad Flute, Cai Wenji's older son, 1246 words)
Once having turned away, forever there shall be no news from my children.

5 ficlets of 60 words each (some Holmes/Watson and some gen, 60x5=300)

Like the ficlet I actually like, this drawing I actually rather like; it's not bad for a quick experiment in digital art. My parents got an iPad several months ago and I've been occasionally stealing it to practice digital art. And, y'know, to play games... >_>

It was going to be The Hobbit but then while looking up what time it was showing I ran into a banner ad for the RUROUNI KENSHIN LIVE ACTION MOVIE and nearly died of shock because I had been resigned to waiting for the DVD release but NO, IT IS ACTUALLY SHOWING IN SM CINEMAS RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
BEST UNEXPECTED BIRTHDAY TREAT EVER.
