Went to the Pegasus Parade today! There are some corny floats and inflatables and clowns and stuff, but also guys in ~uniforms~ and some Medal of Honor recipients and also some guys dressed like American Revolution reenactors. My favorite parts were the stuff everyone else thought was boring. Story of my life. Anyway, here are a few pictures.

Stuff under the cut. )

The traffic was awful getting out, though. :P

Wow, that looks really cool! Don't worry, you're not the only one who appreciates uniforms and revolutionary war costumes. Of course, being predictable, I also like the giant horse.

Are you going to watch the Kentucky Derby? I was just reading about all the horses in it this year, but I'm not sure who to root for!

We can't have a Derby parade without giant horses! XD There were lots of regular horses too, and adorable little ponies, but I didn't get any pictures of them.

Of course! We always do a drawing, and I got Watch Me Go. :D But all I really want is a good race. I love when it's close, or when there's a huge upset like in 2009.

It sounds like it'll be close this time, because there isn't a definite favorite. I bet you'll love the race!

I always root for horses based on their names, and this year I think Soldat sounds cool, but I also really like Pants on Fire. :D

The town I used to live in in Colorado has an annual event called the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival, which is always kicked off by a huge parade. When I saw it three years ago, there were a group of men dressed in American military uniforms from the Revolution on up to the present day. It was so cool to see.

You should look up that festival. It's awesome. A whole weekend celebrating the British Isles. There's even jousting. :D

Oh damn, that sounds so cool to see all those uniforms side by side.

*A* JOUSTING.

Historical uniforms are always awesome. :D Have you ever been to a historical reenactment before? Those are so fun.

No, unfortunately I haven't. I've been only at St. Patrick's parade in Moscow, it's rather funny too:) But stupid new Moscow mayor forbade the parade this year, ugh.

Aw, that's too bad. Hopefully they'll have it again next year.

That float really wasn't patriotic enough. XD Covered in red white and blue, and tons of flags, and a huge eagle, and with speakers playing 'God Bless the USA' really loud...
But it was a fun parade.
