At least it's not a Thursday this time?
Why is it that whenever anything important happens in my city, I don't even notice?
The entire fucking tube system's been down since about 10, but of course this is after many of us had got into work. And I'm sitting here in my office on my own, without any access to the TV or the radio or anything. I didn't even know what the hell was going on until about an hour ago when I went to get lunch and realised the museum was empty. Then I came and checked the internet, and sure enough, there it was.
Come to think of it, an emergency announcement went out at about 10.30 this morning, but I thought it was just a test of the alarm system. Guess I should have noticed when there wasn't a "we are about to test the alarm system" announcement beforehand. I'm supposed to notice these things? Bah, I say.
And yes, I did think the reason the BBC news site has been down all day was a technical glitches.
Meanwhile, the museum itself seems fairly secure. The palaeo department's locked up anyway, and after braining that small child I saw at lunchtime, I haven't seen any myself. Of course I haven't seen anyone all day. But I have a geology hammer I found in one of the labs, and I have about a month's supply of tea and biscuits. And quite a bit of booze. Palaeontologists drink in the office a lot, apparently.
Anyone in London, specifically the Kensington area, fancy swinging by to pick me up? My phone's down, of course, but if you let me know that you're coming down, I'll keep an eye on the windows.
Then, I'm really going to need a drink. Winchester, everyone?

The specimens are not turning into them. Repeat: the collections are safe. Apparently one has to be alive when bitten to turn into one. So the Natural HIstory Museum is still a haven and anyone who is stuck near a museum needn't worry about zombie dinosaurs.
