the reality is that they suck. i learned this as a babe at my mother's knee. she was insistent that we were going to have a nice holiday, damn it, whether we wanted to or not. holidays were about family and don't even try to get out the door because it wasn't going to happen. so now that i have wee children of my own, i find myself trying to

: huggles : i have many good memories of Christmases past. I dont know how my parents felt. My favorite memory is singing around the piano. One person playing (sometimes playing duets with my sister) and the rest singing. Sometimes if my aunt or grandpa was in from out of town there would be violin/fiddle music too.

I'm not sure what to say about the kids. I am still waffling about if I want them myself, so I can't really give good advice on that. All I can say is keep doing your best to make the holidays good. I think you do a wonderful job no matter how much you doubt yourself. And dont let your mother make you doubt yourself. Mothers are experts at that and you just need confidence in yourself.
