Oddly, that's another thing about Houston that I've noticed to be different in the last 10 years.
Used to be the neighbourhoods were VERY distinctly defined by ethnic group. Indians, Pakistanis, the big Nigerian neighbourhood near 59 and Bissonet, the 3rd ward, the 5th ward (both of which are largely american black) and the rich, middle-class, and poor white neighbourhoods (River Oaks, Kirby, and Alief, respecitvely). Now....it's mixed more. Not completely homogenized, but mixed. Going for a ride on the 25 from way out west to the end of the line near downtown goes through all of them.
