Baz Luhrmann said that he has "workshopped" his upcoming film The Great Gatsby in 3-D, though he has not made a final decision about whether to shoot the Carey Mulligan-Leonardo DiCaprio project that way or not.

I don't think it's possible to make a good movie adaptation of Gatsby in the first place; the prose is what's extraordinary, not the story itself. The fact that 3-D is even being considered seems like further validation.

I agree completely. And I never approve of who they cast as Nick. Never.

WTF? Seriouly? (I had no idea that Luhrmann was into that project, but I am less than excited...).

I probably wouldn't watch any film version of the book, to be honest, but Luhrmann seems like such a bad choice. I was a fan of Moulin Rouge but he doesn't seem to have a subtle bone in his body, which is incredibly problematic for something like Gatsby.

This really bums me out. I don't understand why they want to make another Gatsby movie especially one in 3-D. It's like the worst idea ever. Really Baz? *sigh* I don't get it.

I can only think that he is taking the book on its most literal terms and trying for a really in your face flapper feel and wants to show how deep and well read he is by having the eyes and the green light be in your face. Maybe? I don't know. I can't really fathom it.
