Sometimes I feel like it's another world. Something so distant from me that I'll never have to touch it. I've never been in an accident, never seen a tornado, never broken a bone, never been sick longer than a few days. It's like I've been living in this protective bubble, and I wouldn't even know these tragedies were possible unless I heard of them... and when I do, I'm so confident in my own invincibility that I convince myself not to worry. It's an unhealthy development that I - and I'm sure many other people in this country - are forming. The problems are there, but they're far away, aren't they? We don't have to worry, do we?
Alas, here's the inescapable truth; this globe is a lot smaller than we think it is.
you know what? I feel exactly the same about all of it and i completely agree. It's so sad...but it just doesn't reach me. It makes me feel very insensitive about the whole thing. It was the same even for 9/11 (I know, it's terrible but I admit it). It seems like only the things that directly affect me really concern me. It's a kind of selfishness that me and a whole lot of people in the world seem to posess. Btw, i've never broken a bone either...heh.
it's just funny how i'm here complaining about how i didn't get a camera for Christmas when thousands and thousands of people are dying and suffering on the other side of the planet. Actually, it's not that funny at all.

Also, I never thought the world was any more peachier back then than it is now. Well, maybe just a WEE bit.

That is the perfect way to describe it. And it'll probably take a rude awakening to shake us out of it.
