i have been trying to pinpoint my anxiety.

i had pinned it firmly on the boyfriend--who, as a sidenote, i keep wanting to call T, but i can't, because GCV already owns that initial and you can read anything you like into that, dasha--but i think i knew more about it two weeks ago when i texted hanna from the boyfriend's couch. i'm terrified of my trip to new york, i said, and bless her ( Read more... )

the boyfriend, anxiety

This is not a completely unfamiliar concern, runny_eggs December 22 2008, 19:15:16 UTC
and while I certainly can't speak for you, I can tell you that it was both a comforting and saddening realization that for all the whooping and hollaring that New York and I managed to get into, that city was as indifferent to my departure, as it was to my arrival, and as I'm sure it will be again, whenever it is that I see her next.

Take a bite outta the big apple for me. i.e. leave some teeth marks, where ever you dare.

i have to admit, i thought of you while writing this--isn't it convenient, us both leaving town around the same time and navigating the waters of new spaces and new faces? new york's indifference, i think, is one of the reasons i love it, and i imagine you're absolutely right, and that indifference, more than anything, is what it will experience on my arrival.

i'll do my best to leave as many teeth marks as i can, though, believe you me. and i'll raise at least one whiskey glass in your honor.

Hey, I expect you're booked, but if you wind up free it would be great to see you. I've got a pretty slow week of so until Jan 31st, at which point I've got company...

i'm actually relatively wide open, as it were. what would you say to breakfast of some kind (i miss bagels so bad) on that monday, the 29th? my jetlag will probably require it be a late breakfast, but i'd love to sip tea and catch up.

Breakfast would be lovely, though late on the 29th I'm at work. (I have almost no vacation time & am working away apart from two days when my friend surly_monkey's in town...)

I could do anything before 9 or after 5...or lunch. OR, surly's not getting in 'till around 11 on the 31st, and I could meet you for breakfasting that morning at a civilized time...
