hello everyone, i am looking for a nice manual camera with a zoom, and to be honest, despite my desire to be a photographer i'm not sure what to look for, or what to stay away from...

so for any of you camera smart people, will you help me?

i've had my same digicam for years now... and since then i havent touched my actual cams or been paying attention to the latest ones so i fell out of zee 'camera loop'. it depends what you're using it for mostly?

Cannon is good. I have the EOS Rebel 2000, and that is nice, because it can either be fully automated or fully manual. I paid $350 US Dollars for it brand new 4 years ago, so I have no idea what it would be now, but prolly at least $100-$150 cheaper, I would imagine. Hope it helps. Also, check out pawn shops, but be careful. As I stated at first, anything Cannon is going to be good.

I would suggest cannon. They are one of the best. Olympus is pretty good too.

Cameras are expensive - mine cost me $1800.00...

try posting this in a photography community. They should know really good cameras to look for.
