Suburbs are scarier than cities
The storm that blew through on Saturday knocked over trees and knocked out power lines in the outer regions. At least one car was squashed by a gigantic tree.

Being social doesn't mean a charmed life
I have known people who are charming, gregarious and great to be friends with . . . initially. Then s/he screws up and loses the current pool of friends. No matter; the charming, gregarious personality will replenish the supply.
Too bad the internet is like Inspector Javert to Jean Valjean. The past is not so easy to erase. -
Finally, I can catch up!
My Viore 7-inch portable TV which I purchased for $99 has a large enough screen for me to read the subtitles on my anime. I'm watching English language programs as well, but because of my poor hearing, I sometimes mishear the audio.
Meh, sacrifices. But the gain is 90 minutes of A/V bliss on the subway. I don't HAVE to buy a netbook. -

New kitchen
There is so much construction dust from tearing things out of the walls. I hope the landlord found someone reputable to finish things up. I really miss my stove. And the fridge keeps getting unplugged! -
Some friends are healthier for you than others
I had nearly forgotten how invigorating spending time with friends can be. I think what works for me best is to not have too many over at once.

Free Bronx Zoo admission
September the 5th and 6th lets me bring in up to three people each day. Which six people would be able to go?
This is Labor Day weekend, so it should give some scheduling wiggle room for folks. -
