Just so you know what kind of area I'm living in, Mr. Goode is our rep.

I feel dirty just writing that.

The scarier thing is that it isn't as big of news around here as you'd think. It hasn't been on our front page at. all. I believe it might be tomorrow, but it won't be the highest played story.

"The Virgil Goode Position" makes me feel dirty.

Ew. On so many levels.

Agreed.

I hate that all these supposed moral, God-fearing people say everyone should follow the words of the Bible and be good, pious folks.

Funny. Those people turn out to be the same ones who solicit sex with minors, engage in drug dealing, have extramarital affairs producing love children, and partake same-sex shenanigans.

Hypocrites.

Plus, I can't believe people still think Muslims are going to be bring down our country. That's like saying Buddhists are going to destroy our country. Are people really that stupid?

Last I checked, Bush and Cheney, two supposed Bible-toting, God-fearing men of faith, were already doing that pretty well.

At the risk of sounding inflammatory, I don't think its the same as saying Buddhists are going to destory the country. I think its more like saying Christians or Jews or Hindus. I think I am muddled in my thoughts, but I agree with you otherwise!

Also: We tend to blow up the transgressions of conservative politicians more because of that very hypocrisy. But we should also mention that many other pols have been caught in, ahem, compromising positions too. It's just more shocking/fun/interesting when its someone who claims to be "holier than thou." Its that whole fall from grace thing.

Definetely.

Conservatives stake their claim on being "better" than the liberals, who support abortion, same-sex coupling, stem-cell research, etc.

It's so much fun to point and laugh when they screw up majorly.

I was equally enraged when I read that!

What's worse is that because of the fear-mongering our government does over terrorism, some people won't even think twice. If he had said something about Europeans immigrants, for instance, people would be up in arms!

It does make you think...I think the most obvious is that after 9/11, people had an irrational fear of ALL brown people. Yet after the Oklahoma City bombings, there was not a national backlash against single white males.

I saw someone present that argument in a conservative message board about airport security and profiling and people wrote back stuff like "well timothy mcveigh did not use an airplane to attack us." OH, YOURE RIGHT! now I see the errors of my ways...
