He was trying to make off with the wallet while the cops were on scene. He was in a squad car pretty damn fast.

I cant remember if there is a crosswalk there or not, regardless, the woman that got hit was either a nurse or hobo. My bet is nurse, since she had shoes and a wallet with money in it. I whole heartedly agree that the city is full of jackasses that apparently never learned the look-both-ways rule and think that walking into traffic is a logical choice in life. But the majority of traffic that night was pretty rough, most of them speed by me at 50+ mph as I was standing there. I can't say who's to blame.

Wow -- that's insane. I know what you mean about not being freaked out. That's the only way I can explain my calm reaction to witnessing a murder in Berlin.
