I'm continually impressed with your work in analog circuits and filters like this. When so many are content with having a boomy ported sub, you go old school. Plus you completely rock the repurposed speaker cabs, which look mighty fine.
What are you using for divers? And how do they sound backed into a corner of the room?
Yes, in fact dipoles are VERY old school designs - which lost favor for years - and have picked up a small but strong following again. I've done bass-reflex... upgraded to sealed box, and now ventured to dipoles! ;-D
But yes, I got into audio very young, ended up with a BSEE and worked for Shure out of college doing mic preamp designs before falling to the dark side of IT. So this is my little outlet...
The drivers are the 10" Eclipse W1038R (manufactured by Eminence). Not ideal specs (especially Qts and XMAX) for dipoles, but I already had two on hand and they are pretty decent and stand the test of time so picked up two more.
My room is fairly narrow - so being backed against the wall is the only choice regrettably. Toeing them in notably seems to help minimize the "badness" of close rear reflections.
...and thanks ... not many people "grok" audio anymore! :-D [grins]
I love audio, always have. I started building power amplifiers in my early teens, and stuffed them into speaker cabinets, and outfitted them with handles and power sources made with lantern batteries... and proceeded to terrorize the schoolyard with my brand of eclectic tunes. I miss those old days

Oooh, I remember this. So nice of you to see that the paint job and everything came together in the end. And I'd like to also throw in as well for the aforemention geek!crush. :)
