Everything was finally going great with Meesh today. She finally opened up. We enjoyed breakfast and a walk together, some treats and play time and then she goes and pees on my rug not ten minutes after. I'm confused now. There was nothing to upset her today so why the pe right on the rug again ( Read more... )

Did you guys have fireworks? Or some other loud noises? I know Sandy always gets withdrawn when there are noises and it lasts a couple of days.

As for the potty problem, I say sprays, once she's marked it? She thinks it's ok to go there, remove her scent and it should break the habit.

*poke* I bought a time share in Vegas chicky.

I'm SO making you go next time we are out!! *grin*

yup did that. She peed again even after I sprayed a repellent. Now I even removed the carpet and disinfected and she got up at 1am and did it again. I"M SOOOO TIRED AND FEED UP. I don't know how to get ehr to stop the peeing thing.
Help!

Ok, have you caught her peeing and yelled at her?

Worse case? Diaper her. Just get regular diapers in a size that would fit her (I'm guessing a 2-3 size), cut a spack for her tail and diaper her. If you can't trust her in the house, that will tend to at least reduce your clean up and a few days of it tends to make dogs realize they need to go outside.

No I haven't caught her in the act just after only but she knows cause when I get close and se it she hides. It's as if she knows what she did and still does it.

Oh my dear, it sounds like you are in possession of an excitable little dog with an excitable little bladder. I know I'm always suprised and how much better my husky boy can hold his considering how much there is in it at any given time, but Allie's is quite small I guess and her littler dog body just processes thing so much faster. I think the spray sounds like a good thing to try. You might also want to put a bell on her - it sounds like she's decided that there's a specific place to go inside the house. This is good - it will help you to be able to anticipate/catch her and correct. You two will sort yourselves out I'm sure - once she settles in and her triggers are less easily excited it'll get easier. :)

I tried the repellent spray and she did it again. I now removed the carpet and last night she woke up went down to the kitchen and peed again. Even after we took her for a 45 minute walk and she did all her business she still peed.
Is she doing it on purpose?

Well yes and no - depends on what you mean by "on purpose". Dogs don't do things like that to let us know they're angry or upset etc contrary to what a lot of people think. Look at dogs in the wild - it's not like there are forbidden territories for them to do their business, there's no way that behaviour could evolve. Besides, dogs don't think that way. They aren't spiteful. There is the possibility that it's connected with territory marking, though, but I really don't think it sounds like that somehow. I don't know that the solution would be any different if that's the case anyway ( ... )

yeah I can relate with your mom. I've actually been thinking of giving her up but I don't want to really. I do adore her but this fear of going outside and the peeing on the floor gets the better of me.
She was ok the first week and then got worse as the weeks went buy this is why I'm lost. Why is she not coming when we call her now and why has she started the peeing indoors thing. She didn't do this at first? Why the sudden change? If she did this from day one I can undestand but it seems like we're gojng backwards now. From good to bad

Here's a thought - maybe keep her on a leash inside the house at all times. I've done that to change a lot of bad habits with both of my dogs. No cajoling when it's time for them to follow, just an instruction and then a physical correction (meaning manipulating them to do what/be where you want - not a spank or anything) immediately after if it isn't followed. Basically it enforces the idea that you are the pack leader and they are the follower, they learn your routine and their expectations, and they respect them. You can tie the leash to the foot of your bed at night, then maybe a crate when you aren't home...?

I was thinking tonight at bed time to close our bedroom door until morning.
I did notice she eats at night so I'm worried she'll be so hungry. Blah I'm so week to the furry kid.
