Olympics... can we really say these people are athletes?

So I had the TV on and I saw an ad for Olympics and there was ping pong lumped into the hyper commercial montage of all the sports…. WTF  seriously ping pong? Is that really a sport? I thought it was something that was played in rec-rooms when it was raining outside .

Clearly you don't live in Asia. It's a damned serious sport over here. Not only do people train like hell for it, but there are multiple movies, comic books and cartoons.

It actually is quite interesting, I saw a special on "pro" level players, and they definitely qualify as athletes.

Yeah true... for me in my mind ping pong just seems the least athetic thing to do. Although I'm sure anyting taken to extreme can be athletic..
