An Introduction to The Gospel According to Mark
by Nick CaveWhen I bought my first copy of the Bible, the King James version, it was to the Old Testament that I was drawn, with its maniacal, punitive God who dealt out to His long-suffering humanity punishments that had me drop-jawed in disbelief at the very depth of their vengefulness ( Read more... )

I think I might print this out and staple it to my forehead or something. Thanks for posting it! : )

And I'm a horrible person for being this late, but congrats on the wedding! I peeked at the pictures that Sophie posted and you both look Fabulous!

And I would comment in your lovely wife's journal too, but maybe you can do me a favor and pass that along? You two live in the same house and I'd feel redundant. :P

Stapling a document to forehead sounds right up Nick cave's alley - how very appropriate! yeah, its killer prose. I'm not sure how far i agree with Cave's take on the bloodthirsty vengefulness of God, but the human-ness, the realness of jesus.. yeah thats good stuff.

Yes.. absolutely horrible! but I forgive you, such is my boundless kindness.. hehe thankyou for your kind words.

will pass on your compliments to the Soph. It is rather convenient, the living in the same house thing :)

enjoy your day!

Interesting; however, when he had finished Mark, he should probably have turned around and reread the OT, because he missed most of it. God never changes, and all that Jesus talks about in the Gospels are the very ideas which run through the Law and the Prophets and the Writings: Love over Law; Mercy over Judgement; long rants about people following the Rules rather than doing what is Right; not just second chances, but third, sixth, and ninth ones.
