070. Thunderstorm, Kangin/Sungmin Sungmin wasn’t afraid of thunderstorm’s, rather, he enjoyed watching them, so when it began to storm outside the dorms, Sungmin could be counted on to drag a warm blanket out to the couch, and move said couch over to a window to get a better view of the lightening and rain.
He knew Ryeowook would be frightened by the thunder and would curl up in bed beside Yesung, head tucked under a comforting arm to try and block out the sounds around him. He knew Kyuhyun would pretend like it didn’t bother him, but would lay half on Yesung’s chest with his head over his heart, distracting himself with squeezing Ryeowook’s frightened fingers and the sound of Yesung’s strong pulse.
In another room would be Donghae, curled around a pillow with Eunhyuk curled against his back, completely ignorant of the fact that Eunhyuk knew Donghae wasn’t really afraid and just liked an excuse to cuddle. Never the less, Eunhyuk would pamper him with sweet kisses along his neck and chin, a distraction if ever he knew one.
Sungmin would never understand Ryeowook’s fear of thunderstorms, nor could he explain Kyuhyun’s, but he could understand Donghae’s need to cuddle. He could understand the excuse for extra attention.
He wouldn’t mind that himself, if only he could get their most oblivious band mate to realize his feelings.
Sighing, he wondered where Kangin was. He hadn’t come home yet, though it was nearing 10 o’clock. Sungmin wondered if that meant Kangin was stuck in a production building because of the storm, and no one was being allowed out.
He kind of hoped that wasn’t true, kind of hoped Kangin would come home tonight, but then he felt bad, because then Kangin would have to run through the pouring rain, and it was such a thick sheet that Sungmin was having a hard time seeing the lightening that was his favorite part of a thunderstorm.
Either way, he supposed, it didn’t really matter. Kangin wouldn’t cuddle him as if he were afraid of the storm, Kangin wouldn’t sit with him to give him company, because Kangin was an idiot and couldn’t pick up on Sungmin’s feelings.
He wasn’t even sure if Kangin would share those feelings, but if he could, at the very least, be rejected, then he would be able to get over Kangin completely. Not knowing what the true answer was, Sungmin couldn’t just give up.
Because that was just the kind of person he was. He was the kind of person who stuck it out to the very end - he half assed nothing.
It was times like these that he wished he did.
Then Sungmin’s eyes were attracted to a lone dark figure running through the rain on the street below, movement’s slowed because of the water that likely clung to the fabric of his clothing, and the sleekness of the concrete he ran on.
It was no doubt Kangin - he was headed straight towards the dorms.
--
By the time Kangin made it to the dorms, he was thoroughly soaked to the bone, and freezing. His clothes were like their own little rain storm for the amount of water that dripped off of them.
He fully expected to find everyone in their rooms, trying to catch up on sleep, but when he opened the door, he immediately caught sight of one of his dorm mates sitting on the couch that was pulled all the way over to the window, and covered completely in a thick blanket.
Kangin shivered at the thought of the warmth that would come from being under that, and decided he’d find out who was still up after he’d dried off and gotten out of these clothes.
They clung to him like a second skin, but he managed to tear them off before wrapping himself in a blanket to dry off. His room was chilly, so he shivered, and changed into the thickest set of pajama bottoms he could find, throwing on a shirt and then grabbing his comforter before setting out for the living room.
He was still wet, but the blanket around him helped to warm him and dry the lingering bits of rain from his skin.
As he got closer to the figure on the couch, he recognized the blanket and smiled. Sungmin.
“Afraid of the storm, Minnie?” He asked as he sat down.
A snort, “You wish. If I was, it would be an excuse for you to cuddle with me, and we all know how much you want that.” The sarcasm sounded a little too much like Kyuhyun, and a little less like the flirt that Sungmin was.
Looked like Sungmin was spending too much time with Kyuhyun again.
“And what makes you think I need an excuse to cuddle with you?” he asked, shuffling closer with his own giant blanket.
He didn’t get an answer, so he nudged Sungmin with his shoulder.
“What makes you think I need an excuse?”
Sungmin turned to him with warm, doe eyes and quirked a brow.
“Are you trying to tell me you wouldn’t mind cuddling with me?” The correct answer to that would be yes, but Kangin wasn’t so sure it was a good idea to answer that, so he just smiled wryly.
“That’s what I thought,” and Sungmin sounded so huffy as he turned back toward the window that Kangin forgot that he wasn’t supposed to touch what would never be his.
“Sungmin…?” He asked as he gripped the others shoulder. He felt a shudder underneath his palm. “What’s wrong?” Sungmin shook his head.
Knowing Sungmin wasn’t going to be willing anytime soon to tell Kangin what was the matter, Kangin pulled him close and into the warmth of his own arms to hug him. Sungmin was frozen, but he relaxed after a moment, and let himself be hugged.
“You know you can tell me anything, right Minnie?” He didn’t get an answer, so he pulled away slightly with a sigh and placed a kiss against Sungmin’s forehead.
He got another shudder for his thought, and then he could feel tears on his shirt, and pulled Sungmin tighter to him.
“Shhh…” He whispered, rubbing soothing circles in between shoulder blades.
“Kangin…Kangin…”
“Shh, it’s okay.”
“Kangin I love you…”
