Watch out for falling aliens

Oct 16, 2010 12:15

Do you spend a lot of time outside? If you do, you might see this girl quite a lot today. She can be found hiding in bushes, perching in trees or on roofs, poking around in offices and stores and public buildings, all while scribbling in her notebook.

The words in the notebook appear to be doodles and chicken scratch; They are, in fact, written in ( Read more... )

[If Tak is anywhere near one of Mayfield's mysterious government buildings--particularly the police station--she may spot a familiar face. Though, Tak may be more familiar with his entrails than his face...

In any case, Slugger is sneaking around outside the police station in a manner which suggests he's trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible.]

[Well gee, that's not suspicious at all. She stuffs the notebook under her arm and follows, quiet as a stalking cat.

recognition only occurs as she draws close, and she halts briefly. She really is tempted to see if you remember her, but she'd rather not waste a day's worth of work being dead either. She ducks behind a nearby bush, waiting to see what you do.]

[She's also ready to gut you again, should you see her.]

[Tak goes unnoticed for now as Slugger makes his way around to the back of the police station.

Here, he pauses to look around. Thinking he's alone, he then approaches the building, looks around again, and steps closer to a stretch of wall. He raises a hand up to the brick and warily rests his palm upon it.]

[She frowns slightly, edging just a bit closer. What are you going to do?]

[Whatever he's doing, he appears to be deliberating whether he should be doing it at all and for a long moment, he stands almost frozen with his hand pressed to the wall.

But he isn't entirely motionless; there is a slight tremor of his hand as it begins to sink slowly into the wall just as one might submerge a hand into a pool of water. But before he can breach the brick and mortar more than a few centimeters, he sharply pulls away as if he's touched a live wire.

Pale faced, he makes a show of regaining his composure and casts another look around, gaze sweeping passed Tak's hiding place. He starts to move on then, not about to try again.]

[She crouches just a bit lower as Slugger's gaze passes her. As he starts to move away, she tries to follow as quietly as possible while writing in her notebook--

Snap goes the twig underfoot.

Dammit

[Still on edge, the sound gives Slugger a start and he turns in Tak's direction. He doesn't move at first, waiting for the sound to be repeated. But whether it is or isn't, he slowly gravitates toward its origin.]

[Not good. Tak starts to retreat while staring back from where Slugger is approaching from, and manages to trip all over a tree root, bellyflopping on the ground]

oof!

[Determined to catch her before she can scramble away, he approaches rapidly, slipping all too easily through the shrubbery. He isn't sure yet what he's going to do when he gets there but his bat is raised in case this is a drone or someone worth beating the memory out of.

As Slugger draws near, he begins to realize that this is someone he's seen before. But when? Where? He pauses.]

You...

I like it when I leave out a crucial sentence and the whole reply makes no sense. insectoidalien October 17 2010, 21:19:15 UTC
[THIS sure as hell didn't go according to plan. She stares for a moment, gears turning in her head as she decides what to do. Slugger probably expects her to run... perhaps it would be better to pretend she'd never seen him. He probably doesn't even remember her; he was droned that one time, after all. That's how droning works, right?

She suddenly realizes she looks like a deer caught in the headlights, and coughs uncomfortably while dusting herself off.]

Uh, Yes? Do I know you?

[Slugger has yet to put a name, place or time to her face, but he is certain he's seen her before and that it was not a pleasant experience.]

You were watching me. [He's very sure of this so he doesn't bother posing it as a question.]

[And she won't bother denying it.]

I was just taking a walk and noticed you skulking around the station. That's not very safe, you know. What if something happened to you, and no one was around?

[Slugger rests the bat on his shoulder.]

You were concerned for my safety? How nice~

[A grin. His teeth look a little too sharp for this not to be a complete farce. Even if she wasn't lying, he's too cynical to believe her anyway.]

Shall I return the favor?

[She knows perfectly well what that bat is for, and what you're likely planning to try... and Tak just waves you off.]

Oh, no. I don't believe in having people beholden to me. Have a good day now.

[If he were in full possession of his powers (and his skates) right now, he would so be blocking her way. But as it is, he'll just follow her with his gaze as she attempts to leave.]

In a hurry?
