I cannot type this without giggling.
So yesterday I was opening one of my friend's profile at a popular internet social community site better known as facebook, and his status immediately made me go, "Whaa..?" Long story short, he gave a link to a certain article (in Indonesian).

Article + minor ramblings :) )

Saudi Arabia was going on a tirade of banning websites and other stuff as well.
I do agree with why facebook and youtube was banned. Many Muslims use these sites (especially facebook) as a gateway to do stuff in secret. All of the Muslim girls I have met have a facebook, and when I spy on them, I'm so shocked at what I see =O I do not like myspace, at all XD.

Officially, Indonesia isn't an Islamic country, there's just a Muslim majority. You might be shocked at how some of the Muslims here dress or how some of the women wear their hijabs (even I was pretty shocked the first time I got back from the states, let's just say some of them don't wear it according to standard).
Yeah, the anonymity of the internet makes doing things in secret a lot easier to do. Thankfully I haven't seen any of my Muslim friends do anything mind-boggling, unless they were already only "Muslim by ID" in the first place.
I don't like myspace either. :)

A silly question for you: Do Indonesians learn some Arabic? I'm super curious about that because a lot of Arab Muslims are prejudice against Muslims who don't speak it. Personally, knowing Arabic doesn't really prove much of anything (IMO), it's how someone follows Islam.
Ugh, people always tell me to make a myspace. I say "Nope. Not interested :D"

And I do agree that MUI and co should concentrate on more pressing issues, such fatwas make us all look bad. :/
Do you know who you want to support in the elections? I remember you telling me about the wide range of candidates in Indonesian elections.
