The Junior League ladies have no idea how to organize a gathering, Betty quickly discovers. She notes the décor unconsciously: heavy drapes, unmatched to the rest of the drawing room; too few permanent seats and chairs brought in from the kitchen.
"It's not that I don't understand your point," Cynthia says "We simply feel our efforts would be better spent broadening the public's awareness."
"It’s what we’ve done in the past," Francine adds. "Though the perspective of our new secretary doesn't go unheard." She winks after concluding; a sister still.
"It’s no problem," Betty replies. "I'll buy the poinsettias myself."
