Jack had called, saying they needed a doctor, and she was tired of UNIT. It takes getting used to, though, being part of Torchwood. Jack gets them all staggeringly drunk one night, which helps; better is their first crisis. Some berk with a lab set accidentally raised an army of mutant hamsters. Gwen forbids Jack from recruiting him, and then they get drunk again.
Rhys comes along sometimes, and the unconscious pairing off loses subtlety. Jack makes terrible faces at her and Mickey, narrowly avoiding a telling-off by Ianto. Mickey’s got a nice smile, Martha thinks; well, all right then.
