This is absurd. Yes it was a daft thing to say. Yes he shouldn't have said it.

But really....

(in other news the company I work for is looking to become a union - how cool is that?)

well

www.the-pda.org is our website. ATM we sell insurance for you people, which includes cover in the event of employment tribunals and professional tribunals. We also offer help and advice to try and stop things going to a tribunal.

It's great. We play the "stop it going to Stat Comm game" a lot...

ooh, interesting!

Of course, being a Trade Union would mean coming under the auspices of (anti-)union legislation, so for instance if you want to do anything 'political' (as I understand it, that includes a lot of basic lobbying) you need to ballot every x number of years to have a political fund (yeah, you'd need to legally demarcate that budget)

That said, it would also mean potentially being able to join the TUC (and the GFTU, which isn't opposed to the TUC but provides services to specialist unions) and get backup that way. And of course, being able to get recognition in workplaces to collectively bargain.

Sounds cool! : )

More Trade Unionists! : )

if Ken had compared the reporter to the Stasi, this couldn't have blown up in the way it did.Or if he'd been a bit less mumblingly incomprehensible ( ... )
