Of course, being a Trade Union would mean coming under the auspices of (anti-)union legislation, so for instance if you want to do anything 'political' (as I understand it, that includes a lot of basic lobbying) you need to ballot every x number of years to have a political fund (yeah, you'd need to legally demarcate that budget)
That said, it would also mean potentially being able to join the TUC (and the GFTU, which isn't opposed to the TUC but provides services to specialist unions) and get backup that way. And of course, being able to get recognition in workplaces to collectively bargain.
