I have been sucked in...

May 11, 2009 20:18

I knew it would eventually happen. I fought it, the whole regular television viewing thing for years. My friends, family, coworkers would all conspire to get me to committ to some show or another but I simply sucked at remembering what show was on when. And really, I didn't mind. I enjoyed single serving television. It appealed to my media-commit-a ( Read more... )

I've managed to avoid the sucking sound. The only one that had my interest for years is CSI, I haven't found anything else worth watching. I'm like you, people talk about shows and I don't turn them on. My hubby is a tv whore and I still don't watch, I hear but don't watch.

I use to work in television, that's the irony of the whole situation.
I can't really call my husband a tv whore, well maybe a narcoleptic one. I swear he records massive amounts of programs but uses them like Ambien, half way through the show and he is out like a light. His whole family is like that. I feel very alone after Thanksgiving dinner with nothing but the tryptophan snores to keep me company.

*raises hand*

I'm in that club too. CSI (although it's not the same without Grissom and Sara, at least we still have Brass and Hodges), Lost, Desperate Housewives and recently Castle.

So yes, on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays I'm...predictable.

It really hasn't been the same since Grissom (WP) left. Nothing against Laurence Fishburne but he doesn't have the same magnetism that Grissom had and to be honest I think the show is character bloated with him.

I can only claim RL as half of my absence. I sort of got into a lazy period, followed by a writer's block and then another writer's block. I really had to kick myself hard to get going again and hope I don't relapse.
I agree with you about CSI. I let my DVR record it for me and then I generaly watch it somewhere between Friday and Sunday, so it is not the "must-see tv" that it use to be.
I just recently started watching Fringe, a HULU addiction. And yes, I do believe HULU is an alien plot to takeover the world. It's like fast food; fast, easy and bad for you! It's worse than the DVD box sets that I seem to be collecting against my will. Argh, my brain has turned to soylent green!

LOL....Do I understand! I was recouping from surgery when I discover CSI. It was the only thing I watched. Still watch it. But since I retired...oh, brother.

Now I have a laptop that has blu-ray. I told myself I wouldn't get a blu-ray player. Didn't need it.

Did I mention that CSI is released season 1 with extras today in blu-ray?

Hmmm, I begin to wonder. Injuries, hospitals and addiction to television???

Lol, I have the same problem but in winter vacations. I begin to watch shows when they already are on their 3rd or 4th season xD It makes it more fun for me =)

Anyway, don't feel bad, we all go through it and you end up loving the shows in the end. So nothing bad can come out of this... Unless you start obsessing over the shows like I did with CSI xD

You know, it's weird because that is sort of my m.o. I didn't start watching CSI until the 6th season. Bones until the 4th season and I haven't got a clue what season House is in but I know it has to be, at minimum, the 3rd season. It is one of the reasons I both curse and praise the person who came up with the idea of putting television on DVDs.
