Book Recommendations?

Nov 18, 2007 19:46

I have started doing the whole bookmooch thing but, I am stuck at the point where I need to actually think of books I want.

Anybody got any suggestions for good books to read?

Seriously, I'll take any suggestion here.

Darkly Dreaming Dexter. It's the book that the TV show is based on.

Eerie enough, I just added it before I got your comment.

I've read it already but, don't own it.

What'd you think of it? Better then the TV series?

I'm not finished yet. So far I love it and I think it's much better than the current season, the first season was pretty true to the book. I think Dexter has been acting out of chacter this season, so I haven't been very happy w/ this season. I think I'll pick up the other books in the series when I'm done.

Interesting, the synopsis on The Fourth Hand sounds especially intriguing.

American Gods and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman. You can try any other random books by him. He's amazing. He also wrote Mirror Mask, Death and Sanman Comic Graphic Novels, and Star Dust. He's got lots of more.

Also Gregoy Maguire: Wicked, Son of a Witch, Mirror Mirro, and COfesions of the Ugly Step Sister. Those are my favorites from him.

By the way I hope you're coming up for New Years or I'm kicking your ass. Yes I will drive to Frankfurt and kick your butt.

Own American Gods, and I got the first trade of Sandman. I have been trying to get more graphic novels off of there but, for some reason there are little to none on bookmooch.

Gregory Maguire I have always wanted to read some of his stuff.

I am coming New Years, I may be grumpy and partly broke, but I will be coming, if for only to get rid of the excess of alcohol that has been sitting in my frig. (Apparently I am a once a month drinker...who knew)

Did you ever read those Heinlein books I suggested? I know I suggested Time Enough For Love - but really, you should read that, then The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, and maybe even To Sail Beyond the Sunset (although Heinlein fans argue over whether or not to bother with that last one- *I* liked it.) Also 'Stranger in a Strange Land'.. I love Heinlein. :P

Also, Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend" is an excellent read.. I haven't read it since I was in High School.. but you might want to grab it if you can, because they're making a movie. :D (http://iamlegend.warnerbros.com/)

Haven't read the Heinlein books yet. So far the only Heinlein book I have is Starship Troopers but, I think I will look into getting some others.

Matheson's "I Am Legend" I picked up about a month or so ago, I actually just finished the sucker a couple of weeks ago. LOVED IT. The whole story was dark, and the ending had a nice depressive quality to it. I really hope the movie doesn't butcher the original story too much, I get the sense they'll screw around with the very end part with the "new society", you know what I am talking about. It was funny though, as I was reading Mathesons' writing I kept having flashbacks to the ole' school Charlton Heston movie, The Omega Man, which was "suppose" to be based on I Am Legend (if by "based on" they mean having almost nothing to do with the freaking story)

Miss talking to ya, your never online. Give me a call sometime, you got my cell.
